Studio Sculli (Mauro Sculli) has been shortlisted for the Concept Over 40 Metres Award in The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2022.

This new concept from Studio Sculli comes from their recent experience with other 40-45m, commonly defined explorer yachts. Working with Matteo Covini for the MSS 43, they have integrated this developed understanding with the layout experienced in some of the larger yachts in their design-book.

This 43m yacht was designed to provide space for the comfort of 10 guests in 5 cabins, one master and 4 VIP rooms. The layout was developed by giving the owner’s cabin the forward area of the main deck, typical of luxury cruise ships. The frontal view has a superior value that Studio Sculli has further enhanced with a private owner’s area in the bow, protected but openable during stops or when sailing in good weather.

The paths between guests and crew are well separated to ensure the privacy of all occupants. Two staircases cut into the large funnels ensure the separation of vertical pathways, as well as providing character to the design of the yacht itself.

The entire aft area of the main deck and beach is dedicated to relaxation while at anchor, but allows the transport of a tender, sailboat, or jeep, and can easily be transformed into a helipad. These are rare features to find in unison on a 43m yacht.

The functionality, adaptability, and behaviour at sea became Studio Sculli’s favourite aspects to the concept. The view from the owner’s deck was also a key feature, along with the design of the deckhouse that allows for a portion of the interior saloon to be double-winged. These features combine to create a concept that pushes the current explorer/expedition boundaries.
