Issy Rush-Jansen

Issy Rush-Jansen has once again showcased her exceptional design talent with a stunning transformation of a Victorian home in London. The project involved a comprehensive renovation and expansion, including a loft extension with an ensuite bathroom, new staircase, and fully glazed sliding doors, offering expansive views of London.

The design maximizes natural light throughout the property, beginning with the ground floor rear kitchen extension. This extension features a bespoke kitchen and patio area, complemented by an internal glazed window and an inbuilt library/reading nook. The latter, a cozy retreat for the client, a well-known author, perfectly blends functionality and aesthetics.

Central to the project is the use of contemporary glazing, seamlessly integrated with the traditional Victorian architecture. The new rear extension includes double opening Crittall doors, creating an inviting indoor/outdoor living experience. Inside, a fixed Crittall glazed pane separates the new kitchen from the pre-existing living room, maintaining an open yet distinct flow between spaces.

The ceiling pop-up glazing above the kitchen and reading nook area addresses height differences and floods the spaces with additional natural light, enhancing the airy and open feel of the home. The loft extension, a highlight of the renovation, features a double-glazed opening that provides breathtaking views across London, adding a touch of urban charm to the Victorian property.

Issy Rush-Jansen’s meticulous attention to detail extends to the full renovation of four existing bathrooms and five bedrooms, along with the staircase, hallways, and entrance hall. Each space has been thoughtfully designed to blend modern finishes with the home’s historic charm, creating a cohesive and luxurious living environment.

The project also includes a bespoke cloakroom with ample storage and beautiful finishes, demonstrating Rush-Jansen’s commitment to combining style with practicality. Her innovative design solutions and ability to seamlessly integrate contemporary elements into a traditional Victorian setting have resulted in a home that is both visually stunning and highly functional.
