From the outset, John Cullen Lighting was tasked with ensuring that light became part of the architecture rather than an applied layer. The contemporary building, defined by flowing geometry, double height volumes and expansive glazing overlooking the Cotswolds landscape, required illumination that would complement rather than compete. Discreet detailing and concealed fittings were prioritised so the purity of the raw material palette and spatial composition could remain dominant.
A defining feature of the project is the central spine, a linear corridor that anchors the spatial sequence from entrance to landscape beyond. John Cullen Lighting reinforced this element through concealed linear lighting integrated into architectural grooves within the entrance hall ceiling, precisely tracing the line of the skylight above. By day, natural light floods the space, while in the evening a warm ambient glow preserves the openness and volume established in daylight.
