KA DesignWorks recently completed an impressive 558 square meter home located in a high alpine meadow above the Roaring Fork Valley, offering breath-taking panoramic views of Colorado’s Elk Mountains, including Mount Sopris and Capital Peak.

The design of the home was strategically planned to emphasize and embrace these magnificent views. Upon arrival, guests are greeted with a glass aperture entry that immediately frames the stunning landscape. The layout features dominant shed roof forms with an offset shed roof that draws visitors into the entryway. To one side, a two-story guest wing is situated, while the other side boasts a grand great room flooded with natural light, thanks to expansive glass and clerestory windows along the south elevation. The great room’s grandeur is further accentuated by a captivating jewel box wine room.

The wine room serves as a critical element in the organization of the great room, acting as a four-sided glass centrepiece that anchors a bar element. The living room, sitting area, dining room, and kitchen are thoughtfully arranged around this space, creating a seamless flow and providing various areas for socializing and entertaining. The wine room can accommodate over 300 bottles of wine and also serves to facilitate lower ceiling heights above the kitchen and a concealed pantry. It presents an opportunity to showcase decorative barware and pieces from the homeowners’ art collection, adding to the overall elegance of the space.

Expansive patios and outdoor living spaces off the great room allow residents to enjoy the natural beauty of the meadow below, providing a tranquil oasis for relaxation and connection with nature. Additionally, the home features a generous office and library that ensures privacy and separation from the public areas.

KA DesignWorks successfully executed this project, creating a home that not only complements its picturesque surroundings but also maximizes its potential as a luxurious and inviting living space. The strategic design elements, attention to detail, and seamless integration of architectural features have resulted in a stunning residence that harmoniously blends modern elegance with the captivating beauty of the Colorado landscape.
