Kate Nixon has masterfully transformed an iconic Sydney residence, drawing inspiration from Beaux-Arts design to create a home that seamlessly blends European elegance with modern Australian living. Tasked with reviving the property from its dilapidated state, Kate Nixon reimagined the interiors to accommodate multi-generational living while maintaining a sense of grandeur and sophistication.

The extensive renovation encompassed six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, three kitchens, and a handcrafted timber cellar, spanning three levels of carefully curated public and private spaces. Every element, from flooring and joinery to lighting, hardware, and furniture, was meticulously designed to balance classic refinement with contemporary functionality. The integration of steel-framed glazing allowed for stunning harbour views and natural light to flood the interiors, enhancing the home’s connection to its surrounding landscape.

Sustainability played a crucial role in the project, with Kate Nixon prioritising the use of locally sourced materials, energy-efficient features, and spatial planning to maximise natural ventilation and light. Existing sandstone walls were preserved, reducing waste and honouring the building’s heritage, while handcrafted furniture ensured longevity and minimised environmental impact.

Through a collaborative approach with skilled trades and artisans, Kate Nixon has created a residence that is not only luxurious and elegant but also enduringly functional, setting a new standard for multi-generational living in Sydney’s most prestigious waterfront locations.
