Kitchens by Holloways has transformed a historic Kent countryside home with a striking kitchen design that balances heritage and contemporary function. Set within a grand room once used as a sitting and playroom, the new kitchen now serves as the vibrant heart of a family home for six. Originally part of a 13th-century manor lost to fire and rebuilt in the early 1900s, the home’s architectural features presented both a challenge and an opportunity for Kitchens by Holloways.

The use of materials played a crucial role in uniting the old and new. Base units in natural oak feature a reeded finish produced by CNC machining, while tall cabinets are finished in matt lacquer and framed with brushed and waxed brass T-sections to match hardware from Joseph Giles. A Bianco Eclypsia stone worktop was selected for its durability and light grey tones, with a butterfly-matched join on the island showcasing cascading veins down the sides.

Bespoke solutions such as deep drawers, reeded sink cabinetry and open satin brass shelving add functionality and charm. The inclusion of a traditional AGA pays homage to the home’s cooking history. Kitchens by Holloways has delivered a beautiful, functional space that honours the home’s architectural legacy while creating a modern, welcoming kitchen that suits the family’s lifestyle.
