The brief called for simplicity, elegance, and a seamless integration with the surrounding landscape, creating a space that could function as both a family hub and a setting for entertaining and creative expression.

The International Design & Architecture Awards 2025
Nicholas Anthony approached the project in collaboration with Maya Vuksa Architecture, responding with a design that is both emotionally resonant and highly functional. Material choices were central to this vision. Ceramic worktops reminiscent of volcanic stone ground the space in earthy tones, while stainless steel reflects ambient light like water. A concrete floor with subtle reflective properties enhances this atmosphere of fluidity, suggesting the natural ebb and flow of the tide.
A defining feature of the kitchen is its floating cabinetry, engineered with concealed supports to create a weightless, sculptural quality. This sense of lightness complements the soft coastal palette of ultramarine, turquoise, soft whites, and greys, tones inspired by the sea, clouds, and shoreline. The cabinetry’s refined silhouette and seamless integration add a calm sophistication without sacrificing practicality.
The kitchen also opens directly onto an indoor pool area, allowing for a natural flow between spaces and maintaining a subtle holiday atmosphere year round. With its careful balance of form, function, and sensory harmony, Nicholas Anthony has created a kitchen that feels not only beautifully designed but also deeply connected to its setting. It is a space that elevates everyday living while staying grounded in natural elegance.
