Tell us a little about your background in design:

After completing an undergraduate degree in Accounting and Finance, I decided to change my career path to pursue my true passion-design. I earned my degree in Interior Design from the New York School of Interior Design in 2010.

I began my career at ODA Architecture, a Manhattan-based architecture firm, where I gained valuable experience working on large-scale residential and mixed-use projects. In 2013, I established my own design firm, where I serve as both lead designer and principal.

Over the years, my team and I have completed a wide range of high-end residential projects across Manhattan, Westchester, and the Hamptons, as well as residential lobbies, amenity spaces, and model apartments for new developments. I have also taken on development roles, designing and building several high-end residential properties where I acted as both designer and developer.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients and project types, each presenting unique creative and logistical challenges. From collaborating with developers and high-end brokers in Manhattan to managing complex builds in remote locations, every project has enriched my design approach and reinforced my passion for creating spaces that balance beauty, functionality, and individuality.

How would you describe your personal design style?

I would describe my design style as clean and modern, yet warm and inviting. I always begin by studying the architectural features of a space- every project has its own inherent character, and I believe good design should enhance rather than compete with it. Over the years, I’ve worked in Manhattan landmark buildings with strong historic detailing, as well as in sleek new constructions with crisp lines and contemporary proportions. Each context calls for a thoughtful response that balances architecture and interior.

My aesthetic leans toward modern minimalism with soul, spaces that are edited and uncluttered, yet rich in texture, tone, and feeling. I love to layer organic materials, subtle color palettes, and tactile finishes to create interiors that feel both elevated and livable. While my work is guided by a clear design vision, I always aim to reflect the client’s personality and lifestyle, weaving their story into the design.

Ultimately, I believe a well-designed space should feel effortless, like it’s always been that way, only better lit and more comfortable.

Where does your design inspiration come from?

My design inspiration comes from my experiences living and traveling around the world. Before settling in New York City, I was fortunate to live in the Middle East, Europe, and Asia, and to spend several years working as a flight attendant. Those years exposed me to an incredible range of cultures, aesthetics, and ways of living, all of which continue to shape my creative vision today.

Traveling and connecting with people from different backgrounds constantly inspires me. I’m drawn to the minimalism and quiet elegance of Italian and Scandinavian design, the rich colors and intricate textures of Indian craftsmanship, and the refined, layered subtlety of Japanese aesthetics.

By blending these diverse influences, I aim to create spaces that feel both globally inspired and deeply personal, interiors that are timeless, intriguing, and full of character.

In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?

I feel that design today is moving toward a more human-centered and emotionally connected approach. Beyond aesthetics, people are seeking spaces that enhance their daily lives, places that feel authentic, calming, and meaningful.

There’s a growing appreciation for simplicity, craftsmanship, and natural materials, as well as for designs that tell a story and reflect a sense of place. The line between indoor and outdoor living continues to blur, with an emphasis on light, air, and connection to nature. At the same time, sustainability is becoming an integral part of good design, thoughtful sourcing, timeless quality, and conscious consumption are now essential values.

I also believe we’re seeing a move toward individuality over trends. Clients want spaces that feel personal and collected rather than styled or formulaic. For me, this shift is exciting, it aligns with my belief that the best interiors are those that balance beauty and comfort, reflecting how people truly live.

Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in the future.

1. Sustainability and Conscious Living
Design must move beyond aesthetics to embrace responsibility. Thoughtful sourcing, long-lasting materials, and reduced waste will continue to define how we create and live. Sustainability is the foundation of good design.

2. Wellness and Emotional Connection
Spaces should nurture well-being, physically, emotionally, and mentally. Natural light, organic textures, and calming palettes can create interiors that promote balance and serenity in an increasingly fast-paced world.

3. Craftsmanship and Authenticity
As technology advances, there’s a renewed appreciation for the human touch. Handcrafted pieces, artisan work, and materials with a story bring warmth and individuality to contemporary spaces.

4. Flexibility and Adaptability
Our environments need to evolve with our lifestyles. Homes and workspaces must be designed to adapt: multi-functional areas, modular furniture, and flexible layouts will become increasingly important.

5. Cultural Fusion and Global Perspective
With the world more connected than ever, design is enriched by diverse influences. Blending global aesthetics, while honoring authenticity, creates spaces that feel layered, timeless, and deeply human.

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to designing, what would it be?

Design with intention. Every decision, from the layout to the smallest detail, should have purpose and meaning. Beautiful spaces aren’t created by following trends, but by truly understanding how people live and what makes them feel comfortable, inspired, and connected.

When you design with empathy and clarity, the result naturally feels timeless, personal, and effortless.

How important are The International Design & Architecture Awards?

The International Design & Architecture Awards are incredibly important because they celebrate excellence, diversity, and integrity in design on a global stage. They bring together designers from around the world who are pushing boundaries, elevating standards, and shaping the way we live.

For me personally, the awards represent an opportunity to share my work with a wider audience, connect with fellow designers, and contribute to a global conversation about what great design means today and in the future.

What projects are you currently working on?

I’m currently working on several exciting projects that showcase different aspects of my design approach.

One of them is a new residential building in the West Village, New York, where I recently completed the design of the model apartment and am now working on the furnishing and decoration of the amenity spaces, including a residents’ lounge, children’s playroom, and an outdoor rooftop terrace. The goal is to create spaces that feel sophisticated yet inviting, reflecting the character of the neighborhood while enhancing the lifestyle of the building’s future residents.

Another project close to my heart is a 10,000-square-foot summer home in the Hamptons, NY. This is a full-scale design where I’m involved in every aspect, from the architectural elements such as bathrooms, kitchen, staircase, and fireplaces, to the landscape and pool design. It’s a comprehensive project that perfectly embodies my passion for creating harmonious indoor–outdoor living and a refined, yet relaxed coastal atmosphere.

Both projects reflect my ongoing commitment to crafting spaces that are not only beautiful and functional but also deeply connected to their surroundings and the people who inhabit them.

What was your favourite project to work on and why?

One of my favorite projects to work on was a lake house in Upstate New York. The property was a charming wood-and-stone cabin set on several acres of land, complete with its own private lake. My clients, a family from New Jersey, fell in love with the secluded location and the stunning water views from every room.

I was immediately drawn to the project’s character and the opportunity to modernize the home while preserving its original integrity. The biggest challenge was transforming the dark, rustic interiors into a space that felt bright, open, and inviting, without losing the cabin’s inherent warmth. By lightening the original wood paneling on the walls and ceilings, refinishing the floors, and introducing modern, light-toned furnishings, we achieved a perfect balance between rustic charm and contemporary sophistication.

The result is an open-concept living space bathed in natural light and framed by breathtaking views of the lake. It feels both timeless and relaxed, a true retreat that celebrates its natural surroundings. I loved this project because it was unlike any I had done before, pushing me creatively and allowing me to blend old and new in a meaningful way.

Which products/services could you not live without when designing? E.g. Lighting companies, furniture companies

I couldn’t imagine working without the trusted network of vendors, craftsmen, and contractors who have been part of my projects for over a decade. My local artisans, general contractors, window treatment specialists, wallpaper installers, Venetian plaster experts, and custom closet makers are truly the backbone of my work.

Each of them brings a level of expertise, creativity, and reliability that allows me to take on even the most complex projects with confidence. Design is a collaborative process, and having a team I can trust means that every detail, from finishes to installation, is executed with care and precision.

No matter what challenges arise, I know they’ll find a solution and deliver at the highest level. Their dedication and craftsmanship are essential to turning design concepts into beautiful, lasting spaces.

What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?

Over the next year, my goal is to continue growing my firm while refining our creative vision and deepening the quality of our work. I plan to take on a select number of projects that allow for greater design depth and architectural integration, focusing on homes where I can be involved from the earliest stages of concept through completion.

I’m also passionate about expanding my network of craftsmen, artisans, and suppliers, exploring new materials and techniques that bring originality and authenticity to each project.

On a personal level, I aim to strengthen my firm’s presence internationally, sharing our work with a broader audience through competitions, publications, and collaborations. Above all, my goal is to keep designing spaces that feel timeless, inspiring, and deeply connected to the people who live in them.

Your most treasured possession?

My most treasured possession is my indoor lemon tree, which somehow manages to produce lemons even in the cold New York winter. It reminds me of my childhood and the places I grew up, where citrus trees were part of everyday life.

Beyond its beauty, the tree represents resilience and continuity, a small piece of nature that grounds me and connects my past to my present. Watching it thrive indoors reminds me that with care and patience, beauty can flourish anywhere.

What was your most challenging project to work on and why?

One of the most challenging, and ultimately most rewarding, projects I’ve worked on was a complete renovation of a large summer house in the Hamptons, New York, which has since been shortlisted for this competition.

The project was a full-scale transformation, reimagining every element of the home, from its architectural layout and custom details to the interiors, landscape, and pool design. To make it even more challenging, the renovation took place during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when supply chain disruptions, restricted site access, and shifting safety protocols made every stage of construction unpredictable.

Balancing design integrity with logistical realities required creativity, flexibility, and constant coordination between trades and clients. Yet, despite these obstacles, the process reinforced my belief that great design comes from adaptability and persistence.

The finished home is a light-filled, modern yet inviting retreat that celebrates indoor–outdoor living, an outcome that made all the challenges worthwhile and a true highlight of my career.

Your favourite holiday destination?

Japan is my favorite holiday destination. I’m endlessly inspired by its balance of tradition and modernity, the attention to detail, and the quiet beauty found in everyday life. From the architecture and craftsmanship to the food and landscapes, everything reflects a deep respect for design and nature.

Every visit reminds me that simplicity, restraint, and harmony can be the most powerful forms of expression.

Your favourite way to spend an afternoon?

I love cooking with my kids, especially when we plan elaborate themed dinners together while listening to music. It’s our creative family ritual. Our last meal was a French-inspired evening featuring coq au vin and French onion soup, complete with a little Parisian playlist in the background.

It’s a time to unwind, connect, and be creative in a different way, another form of design, but this time on a plate.

If you weren’t in this sector, what would you alternative profession be?

If I weren’t in design, I would probably be a chef or involved in something related to food and hospitality. Cooking, much like design, is about creativity, balance, and using all the senses to create an experience. I love the process of combining flavors, textures, and presentation, it’s very similar to curating materials and palettes in interiors.

Both design and cooking bring people together and create moments of joy, comfort, and connection.
