Tell us a little about your background in design (education, experience, etc)
My background is in Interior Design, which I studied at Parsons The New School for Design in New York. During my time as a student, I worked at Rhobin DelaCruz Studio, where I gained insight into the US market and managed two successful projects in Manhattan’s Lower and Upper East Side.
Prior to that, I lived in Mexico City, where I worked as a journalist for the Home Division of Elle magazine, covering design trends and timeless interiors. My passion for interior design led me to open Dimitri, my own restoration and furniture store. During that time, I also designed Felix Bar, my first restaurant project in Colonia Roma, along with a townhouse in the same neighborhood.
After returning to Barcelona, I spent three years at Lázaro Rosa-Violán Studio before establishing my own practice in 2015.
How would you describe your personal design style?
My style is eclectic yet refined. My projects are intimate, sophisticated, and inviting, with a cosmopolitan essence. I focus on meticulous detailing and a balanced aesthetic that blends warmth and elegance.
Where does your design inspiration come from?
Art and travel are my greatest sources of inspiration. Every journey and artistic encounter influences my approach, shaping spaces that tell unique stories.
What was your favourite project to work on and why?
Residential projects hold a special place for me because they allow for a deep connection with the client, resulting in spaces that truly reflect their personality and lifestyle.
What was your most challenging project to work on and why?
Sera House has been one of our most complex projects to date. As a historic property, it required extensive permit management and a delicate balance between preserving its heritage and introducing contemporary elements.
Time was the biggest challenge—this renovation project spanned four years. The permitting process was particularly lengthy due to the complexity of the refurbishment, and over time, external factors evolved, impacting the original vision. With such an extended timeline, the temptation to make adjustments along the way was inevitable, requiring a strong commitment to the initial design while adapting to changing circumstances.
Which products/services could you not live without when designing?
Table lamps are essential in my designs. They provide the best lighting quality while creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
