Tell us a little about your background in design:
I trained as an Architect at Damascus University, graduating in 2008. Shortly after, I began my career with several high-end design companies in Dubai, starting with Luxe Interiors, where I discovered my true passion for interiors. Coming from an architectural background, I immediately knew this was where I belonged — creating spaces that harmonize form, function, and emotion.
Over the years, I worked on luxury residential projects across Palm Jumeirah and Emirates Hills, designing sophisticated homes for high-net-worth clients. I later served as a client representative for a major developer, leading the design and overseeing execution of Mon Rêve Tower, a 97-apartment development in the Burj Khalifa district, with a particular focus on the double-height lobby and communal areas. This experience deepened my understanding of construction, strengthened my collaboration with suppliers, and gave me invaluable confidence managing large-scale projects from concept to completion.
After eight transformative years in Dubai, I moved to London, where I worked with Carlisle Design Studio and later as a Project Manager at another design firm. In this role, I gained extensive knowledge of London suppliers, spending weekends walking past décor shops and design centre, visiting joinery workshops, and meeting contractors — always in a race to absorb as much as possible and prepare for delivering exceptional design.
Eventually, I founded Ivory Interiors Studio in 2018, providing interior architecture and design services with a strong sense of identity. Recent projects include private apartments in Wandsworth overlooking Kings George Park, a private apartment in Nine Elms Quay where we worked on multiple units for clients living in the Gulf, a show home for a prestigious developer, a full renovation of a private apartment in Marylebone, and a large family home renovation on Ryecroft Road with a budget exceeding one million pounds. Each project reflects our commitment to creating spaces that are timeless, personal, and thoughtfully crafted, and more .

How would you describe your personal design style?:
My style is contemporary classic, inspired by each client’s requirements, interests, and lifestyle. I take a bespoke approach, ensuring every design reflects their individuality while maintaining unwavering creative expression. People know me for my love of ivory layered with subtle textures and antique brass accents, creating a sense of calm, warmth, and timeless elegance. Each project balances understated sophistication with functionality, producing interiors that feel harmonious, refined, and effortlessly beautiful.

Where does your design inspiration come from?:
I begin by sensing the client’s vision and mood during the brief — whether formal or relaxed, luxurious and rich, dramatic, or calm and serene. From there, I explore how the home will be lived in, understanding their lifestyle, routines, and aspirations. I then translate these insights into bespoke designs that reflect both the client’s personality and the character of the space, all while maintaining my signature style, which is often why clients choose to work with me.

In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?
Design is moving towards personalized, human-cantered spaces that reflect the client’s lifestyle and values. There is a growing focus on timeless quality, sustainability, and thoughtful materials, while technology is integrated seamlessly. The essence of design remains emotive, functional, and rooted in identity.

Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in the future.
Human-cantered design – how spaces serve people’s needs.
Sustainability – environmental responsibility and material choices.
Timelessness – creating designs that don’t rely on short-lived trends.
Technology integration – using modern tech thoughtfully in homes or buildings.
Cultural or personal identity – making spaces reflect the client or context.

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to designing, what would it be?:
That the best design emerges when you understand not just the space, but the life that will be lived within it. Every detail should tell their story while staying true to your own creative vision, so listen deeply to the people you are designing for.

How important are The International Design & Architecture Awards?:
The International Design & Architecture Awards are a prestigious recognition of excellence in the global design community. They celebrate creativity, innovation, and craftsmanship across architecture and interior design, highlighting outstanding work from around the world. For me, these Awards are particularly important as they offer an opportunity to showcase my studio’s vision and ethos on an international stage, connect with like-minded peers, and gain recognition for the projects and clients I am most proud of.

What projects are you currently working on?:
We are currently engaged in a full renovation of a small office complex on Kings Road, transforming it into a residential space- two large family homes, the work includes extension and full renovation ,in prime Kingston locations; and a penthouse in River light Quay, where we are specifying bespoke FF&E elements for selected areas. All projects are in the design and planning stage. Following the recent completion of our Marylebone installation, we are now fully focused on design development. Extended timelines for planning permissions and approvals allow us to refine and deliver bespoke, contemporary classic solutions tailored to each client and property.

What was your favourite project to work on and why?:
One of my favourite projects was the Ryecroft Road family home renovation. It allowed me to fully explore bespoke, contemporary classic solutions, tailoring every detail to the family’s lifestyle. The challenge of balancing luxury, functionality, and personality made it incredibly rewarding, and seeing the final space come to life was deeply satisfying.

What was your most challenging project to work on and why?:
The most challenging project I worked on was a show home completed last year for Strawberry star investment. We were tasked with fully decorating and furnishing a four-bedroom townhouse, with each room featuring a completely different style and colour scheme to reflect the client’s brand. The timeline was extremely tight — just three weeks — which meant I often worked over 16 hours a day to ensure every detail, from wallpaper and lighting to furniture placement, was perfect. Despite the pressure, we successfully delivered the project, and the client was thrilled with the result. It was a true test of creativity, precision, and stamina, and remains one of the most rewarding projects of my career.

Which products/services could you not live without when designing?:
When designing, I rely heavily on high-quality lighting, bespoke furniture, and premium finishes to bring a project to life. Lighting is essential for creating mood and highlighting architectural details, while bespoke furniture and joinery allow me to tailor every space to the client’s lifestyle. I also work closely with trusted suppliers and artisans for wallpapers, fabrics, and materials, ensuring that every element meets our standards for quality, durability, and aesthetic impact. These partnerships are fundamental to realizing my contemporary classic, bespoke design vision.

What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?:
Over the next year, I aim to expand Ivory Interiors Studio’s reach, while continuing to focus on and successfully deliver the projects we currently have. I want to take on more high-profile, bespoke residential and mixed-use projects, delivering timeless, contemporary classic interiors and gaining wider recognition for our design philosophy and craftsmanship on an international stage.

Your most treasured possession?:
My most treasured possession is my family. They are my inspiration and support.

Your favourite holiday destination?
My favourite holiday destination is Amalfi, Italy. I love the dramatic mountains cascading into the sparkling coastline, where sky, sea, and earth meet in perfect harmony. Being there fills me with wonder and awe at how nature creates the most beautiful designs.

Your favourite hotel, restaurant & bar?:
Hotel: The Old Hall Ely
Restaurant:The Lanesborough Grill
Bar: Atelier M Roof top bar – Dubai marina

Your favourite book, film & song?
Book: Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert

If you weren’t in this sector, what would you alternative profession be?
If I weren’t a designer, I would work in a humanitarian field, supporting communities and projects that improve people’s lives and wellbeing.

Anything else interesting?
Traveling is one of my greatest passions. Especially after any project handover, it’s a chance to pause, escape daily routines, and immerse myself in new cultures and landscapes — a moment to reset, reflect, and truly appreciate life.
