Tell us a little about your background in design:

I am trained as an architect and interior designer in Mexico City.
I’ve had my practice for almost 40 years and our project include residential and hospitality projects. Among other projects, my firm has worked with architect Cesar Pelli co creating and designing a multipurpose use project in Mexico City.
And designed a St Regis hotel in Punta Mita Mexico

How would you describe your personal design style?

Our personal design style is clean and eclecting putting together a collection of fine furniture pieces and objects where art plays an important role.

Where does your design inspiration come from?

My design inspiration comes from my constant travels, visiting museum, art galleries and showrooms. Inspiration is around us every moment of the day.

In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?

Design is shifting toward sustainability and has deeply over the last decade. Design shouldn’t be a trend and must last providing comfort and purpose.

Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in 2023 and beyond.

I don’t design in themes but rather with mandatory aspects as orientation, natural light and exposure invading spaces that are open, clean, and simple.

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to design schemes, what would it be?

A Design advise is trusting your gut and if in the slightest doubt, rethink, and act.

How important are The International Design & Architecture Awards?

The importance of The International Design and Architecture Awards is great as it showcases talent around the globe.

What projects are you currently working on?

I am working on two residences and a penthouse in Mexico City and an apartment in Madrid.

What was your favourite project to work on and why?

My favourite projects are the ones I am able to express my creativity freely. That created a dialogue with the final user as the relationships develops. After all we are here to grant client wished with passion and dedication.

What was your most challenging project to work on and why?

My most challenging project was Mitikah. A mixed-use development in Mexico City which lasted 7 years until it was acquired by an investment fund.

Which products/services could you not live without when designing?

Good natural materials rich in color and texture. Interesting furniture and objects to create a curated collection that will surround someone’s life.

What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?

Our goals are to add happy individuals and family to our list of projects and expand in Spain.

Final thoughts; tell us a little more about yourself and your daily inspirations:

Your most treasured possession?

Most treasured possessions are my senses and my hands that allow me to design.

Your favourite holiday destination?

I love spending time in Europe where all four seasons can be lived and felt.

Your favourite hotel, restaurant & bar?

My favourite hotel now is the Marbella Club Hotel and his collection of fine dining options.

Your favourite book, film & song?

My favourite book is The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, my film is About Time by director and writer Richard Curtis and my favourite music is Classical.

Your favourite food and drink? 

I love fish and healthy food and white wine is my drink of choice.

Your favourite way to spend an afternoon?

Being quiet and receptive to my surroundings at home, my favourite place.

If you weren’t a designer, what would you be?

I don’t see myself doing any different profession.
