Tell us a little about the company background:
SUPER TOMATO is an international design studio deeply rooted in Shenzhen, China. Founded by Boting Li, it has emerged on the global design stage thanks to its innovative spirit and profound cultural insights. In 2025, the studio was honored with a place on the AD100 list by AD China (An Ju AD), an award that recognizes the 100 most influential figures in China’s architecture and interior design fields.

SUPER TOMATO is dedicated to unlocking the potential of spaces through design power and enhancing the quality of life. We firmly believe that design is not merely a pursuit of aesthetics but also a deep understanding of lifestyle and a keen grasp of future trends.

How does your company approach each project from concept to completion? :
1.Project Initiation & In-depth Insights: For every project, we begin with a profound understanding of the client’s needs. The core involves in-depth communication with the client to clarify design goals, requirements, budget, and timeline. Through market research, competitor analysis, and target audience studies, we deeply explore the project’s cultural context, brand essence, and market positioning.

2.Creative Ideation & Concept Development: Based on clear insights, our team enters a phase of creative brainstorming, gathering a wealth of ideas. This stage focuses on exploring high-concept aesthetic styles and distilling the core design philosophy from a vast pool of inspiration.

3.Scheme Development & Technical Implementation: Once the conceptual direction is set, we move into the phase of making it concrete. We visualize ideas through sketches, renderings, material selections, and construction drawings, continuously revising and refining them.

4.Project Execution & Quality Control: The flawless realization of a design relies on strict execution. Therefore, we collaborate closely with clients, contractors, material suppliers, etc. Through detailed design briefings, we ensure the drawings are correctly understood. We also manage potential on-site adjustments and closely follow up on every stage of project progress.

5.Handover & Ongoing Follow-up: After project completion, we conduct post-project evaluations, summarizing the market response to the design, its promotional effectiveness, and lessons learned during execution. Simultaneously, actively tracking client usage helps build long-term partnerships and provides valuable, real-world feedback for future designs.

Where inspires your company in this sector?:
We revere natural aesthetics, which guides us to contemplate how, as living beings, we can “dwell poetically” upon this earth alongside all things. It is not merely about how to view scenery but also about how we treat life and understand our own place within the vast cosmos. We draw inspiration for lines from the forms of mountains, rivers, lakes, and seas; capture the rhythm of color from the changing seasons; and weave light, wind, plants, and human activity into the spatial narrative. The selection of every material responds to natural textures; the planning of every circulation path attempts to restore the intrinsic rhythm of life. Design is not about imposing order but allowing space and the inner self to reflect each other, evoking a sense of the eternal within finite spaces.

In what direction do you feel that your projects are moving towards in a general sense?:
SUPER TOMATO’s projects are developing towards the directions of “Deep Integration,” “Internationalization,” and “Value Innovation.”

Name five key themes to consider when approaching projects in the future. :
Five key themes to focus on for future projects are: Cultural Narrative & Locality, Sustainability & Ecological Harmony, Technology Empowerment & Intelligent Experience, Emotional Design & Wellness Care, and Exquisite Detail & Craftsmanship Aesthetics.

If your company could offer one piece of advice when it comes to projects, what would it be?:
Allocating more resources upfront to research and planning during the initial project stages may seem to increase initial investment, but it is actually the most efficient form of “investment.” It helps a design firm shift from “passive execution” to “active definition,” ensuring that every project is not only outstanding in design but also stands the test in terms of value creation and implementation quality.

How important are The International Yacht & Aviation Awards?:
The International Yacht & Aviation Award holds extremely high authority and influence within the industry. It is the only international award that simultaneously focuses on design in both the yacht and aviation fields, aiming to recognize the most outstanding design, innovation, and craftsmanship in these two domains. The award attracts top global designers and enjoys a prestigious reputation in the European and American design communities. For SUPER TOMATO from China, participating in and even competing for such an award is a crucial touchstone for testing our design standards against international benchmarks. It is also an excellent platform to showcase the capabilities of a Chinese design firm to global top-tier clients and peers, making it vital for enhancing SUPER TOMATO’s international brand recognition.

What projects are you currently working on?:
Our company’s project portfolio is quite diverse. Recent works include the design of high-end yachts like the CLB65 SUV, CLB65 FLYBRIDGE, and CLC115 catamaran, as well as architecture and interior design projects such as high-end residential clubs, hotels, and resort estates. These projects collectively reflect the company’s exploration of nature, culture, and high-quality spaces.

What was one of your company’s key projects to work on and why?:
Yacht design projects are among the company’s key projects. The reason is that yacht design is a highly complex, integrated engineering endeavor. It is not just floating architecture but also a fusion of interior design, product design, engineering technology, and the interpretation of an ultimate luxury lifestyle. Successfully completing such projects can comprehensively demonstrate the company’s capabilities in high-end customized design, cross-disciplinary resource integration, and mastery of detail. It is a signature initiative to elevate the brand’s standing in the realm of top-tier luxury living.

What was your company’s most challenging project to work on and why?:
Currently, the most challenging projects remain in the yacht category. We need to balance limited space with limitless experience. Within the finite hull, we must precisely delineate multiple functional areas such as the salon, private cabins, and entertainment spaces (like KTV, game rooms), while ensuring harmonious connectivity between them to avoid a sense of confinement, pursuing ultimate efficiency and comfort in space utilization. Yacht design is a highly complex systematic project involving the deep integration of multidisciplinary knowledge such as fluid dynamics, structural engineering, and interior environments. The challenge lies in how to uncompromisingly maintain design aesthetics while meeting all safety regulations and performance metrics (like speed, stability).

Which products/services could you not live without when completing projects?:
1.High-quality contractors and craftsmanship teams: They are the foundation for turning drawings into reality, and their professional standards directly determine the final quality of the project.

2.Professional material suppliers and R&D institutions: Especially partners who can provide sustainable and innovative materials, allowing for joint exploration of material aesthetics.

3.Technical consultants: Specialized consultants in fields such as smart home systems, acoustics, lighting, MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing), and structure. Their involvement ensures complex technical issues are perfectly resolved.

4.Art consultants and soft furnishings teams: To infuse soul into the space and elevate the overall artistic tone.

What are your company’s aims and goals for the next twelve months?:
1.Brand Deepening: Leveraging the opportunity of being shortlisted for the International Yacht & Aviation Award to further strengthen market recognition of SUPER TOMATO’s design philosophy and enhance brand influence.

2.Project Process Optimization: Continuously optimize and solidify the project management system from concept to completion, improving team collaboration efficiency, and ensuring every project meets high standards.

3.Domain Expansion & Innovation: While consolidating existing strengths, selectively explore new design fields or cross-disciplinary collaboration opportunities, continuously bringing the philosophy of natural aesthetics into broader application scenarios.
