Sculptural Elegance Meets Urban Edge

by Purpur GmbH

Shortlisted: Interior Design Scheme - Europe Award

The International Design & Architecture Awards 2025

IDA 2025

A refined expression of sculptural calm and precise design, this interior project by Purpur GmbH transforms two adjacent apartments into a single, cohesive living space defined by architectural clarity and emotional resonance. The ambitious conversion overcame complex technical and spatial challenges—removing walls and ceilings, repositioning doorways, and redefining sightlines—while the building’s infrastructure was entirely reconfigured to meet the specific needs of its occupants.

The result is a seamless spatial composition that balances rigor and warmth. This is not merely an interior—it is a curated experience. Expansive windows frame views of the skyline, while inside, a sophisticated interplay of materials and light unfolds. Anodized aluminum, soap-treated metal with natural patina, and cast concrete floors converse with suede-clad walls and richly veined onyx surfaces. Every detail contributes to a space that is both minimalist and richly detailed, powerful yet serene.

At the core lies a striking, floating kitchen island sculpted from onyx, set against precision-crafted metal panels—evoking the atmosphere of an elegant, urban retreat. The open-plan layout, encompassing living, dining, and kitchen areas, is distinguished by a bold, masculine character.

Throughout the residence, a surface-led concept unifies the space: no baseboards, no visible frames—only expansive wall cladding that discreetly conceals the guest WC, technical spaces, and storage.

This project by Purpur GmbH transcends conventional interior design. Through its deliberate contrasts, precise execution, and material depth, it creates an environment that is both expressive and restrained—an interior that is staged, not just designed, offering a compelling balance of form, function, and atmosphere.
