Reider + Co was commissioned to design a newly constructed 10,000 sq. ft. coastal residence that seamlessly balances refined elegance with functional family living. When a design-savvy West Coast family sought an East Coast beach retreat for their growing multigenerational household, the firm envisioned a home that celebrates both innovation and a strong sense of place along the Rhode Island shoreline.

Thoughtfully designed to enhance family life, the residence incorporates a series of experiential spaces, including a surf shop, pool table lounge, bar, reading den, state-of-the-art gym, and bunkhouse, each conceived to encourage connection, entertainment, and relaxation. Reider + Co collaborated closely with skilled local craftsmen to custom design architectural details, furnishings, and millwork, ensuring a truly bespoke result.

Among the property’s most distinctive features is an elevator discreetly concealed behind Plyboo wall panels, a sustainable bamboo material that provides a contemporary interpretation of traditional driftwood. Hand-blown glass lighting, crackled glass tiles, and cerused wood finishes further reflect the firm’s collaboration with Rhode Island artisans, imbuing the home with an authentic coastal character.
