Casa Malka

Casa “Malka” graces a vineyard enclave in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, a testament to the creative vision of architect Roy Azar and the meticulous design sensibilities of an esteemed interior designer. Nestled amidst a picturesque landscape of mountains and the gentle embrace of a lakeside expanse, this residence serves as a serene sanctuary for daily life.

The design ethos adhered to a philosophy of minimalism, allowing the structure to harmonize with its natural surroundings. The entryway beckons with exterior reflecting pools, crowned by flames, ushering visitors into an interior-exterior foyer that stands as an independent pavilion. Here, an awe-inspiring skylight diffuses light and shadow play, and perforated walls promote daytime ventilation. As twilight descends, the ambiance transforms into one of mystique, as countless candles cast a warm, ethereal glow.

Throughout the project, only pristine natural materials were employed, including stone, wood, and concrete, complemented by hand-cut obsidian tiles adorning the living and dining room walls, capturing the ever-shifting interplay of daylight. Stepping outdoors, one is greeted by an expansive living area that spills into an 18-meter pool culminating at the lake’s edge, separated only by a central firepit. This al fresco oasis, designed to seamlessly merge with its natural surroundings, serves as the heart of the home.

The master bedroom, with commanding views, reigns over the residence, while the dressing room’s generous windows and skylight offer a haven for relaxation as the sun sets over the lake. Casa “Malka” caters to the family’s diverse needs, featuring a Zen Garden cocooned by magnolia trees and obsidian rocks for meditation, a lake-facing kitchen for culinary pursuits, and a floating gym pavilion for exercise.

Casa “Malka” is a temporal refuge where tranquillity reigns, offering respite from the relentless march of time, allowing its inhabitants to savour life’s moments in serenity.
