Studio Augustine has masterfully transformed a modern London apartment into a sophisticated urban sanctuary, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. Located in the heart of the city, the apartment boasts breathtaking views of iconic landmarks such as the London Eye, the Houses of Parliament, and St. Paul’s Cathedral. Studio Augustine’s vision was to create a welcoming space for an international family and guests while celebrating London’s architectural heritage and global design influences.

The design brief called for a luxurious yet comfortable aesthetic with intimate spaces for family gatherings, entertaining, and relaxation. Studio Augustine placed the city’s skyline at the centre of the design, with seating arrangements framing the spectacular views while maintaining a fluid layout. The use of low-profile contemporary furniture ensures uninterrupted sightlines, while the space transitions effortlessly from private dinners to larger gatherings.

The palette reflects London’s dynamic skyline, with neutrals accented by blues and greens, echoing the city’s ever-changing light. Materials like Verde Indio marble subtly connect the interior to the oxidized copper roofs of the surrounding Edwardian architecture, creating a visual rhythm between interior and exterior. Studio Augustine also incorporated tactile textiles and finishes that age gracefully, ensuring durability and timeless elegance.

Art curation played a pivotal role in the project. Pieces by British craftsman Tom Collier were layered alongside global works, including bold creations by Danish and American artists like Christopher Wool, adding cultural depth without overshadowing the city lights.

Studio Augustine’s approach highlights the changing quality of London’s light, with materials chosen for their interaction with natural illumination throughout the day. Local craftsmanship was infused with global narratives, marrying traditional British joinery with a contemporary, international perspective.

The result is a design that feels intimate yet grand, luxurious yet livable, and intrinsically connected to London’s story, making it a stunning example of interior design in dialogue with its surroundings.
