Supernova Design Studio has unveiled the stunning refit of MY SOLAFIDE, a 1994 built yacht, breathing new life into the vessel with a refined balance of contemporary elegance and respect for its classic heritage. Commissioned by an owner with a clear vision for modernisation and enhanced liveability, the project involved an extensive transformation of both the yacht’s interior and exterior.

Internally, the studio reimagined the layout by repositioning bulkheads and introducing bespoke furniture to optimise comfort and function. The Main Deck dining area underwent a significant change, with built in furnishings removed in favour of a custom table that can host the entire family, offering increased flexibility and usability. The outdoor zones were equally considered, enhanced with modular furniture and tailored cushions, especially on the aft main deck, where proximity to the sea has been artfully emphasised.

The Upper Deck saw the redefinition of space with a multipurpose Lounge Area, now capable of transforming into a four person cabin when not used as a TV or social room. A highlight is the addition of a new VIP suite, a personal request from the owner that has been met with great satisfaction. A complete overhaul of the yacht’s electrical and lighting systems further enhances ambiance, with carefully curated lighting schemes that shift the mood from day to night.

Material selection was integral to the transformation, with eucalyptus wood, decorative glass, fine leather, and white onyx employed to craft a tactile and visually rich environment. A standout feature is the backlit onyx panel, echoing the patterns of sea foam, and mirrored surfaces strategically placed to reflect the ocean, reinforcing the yacht’s strong connection with its surroundings.

Externally, the classic cream hull was replaced with a crisp white finish, accentuated by dark stripes and steel grilles. Aft, the former tender storage area has become a stylish lounge space, complete with fold down bulwarks to bring guests closer to the sea. On the flybridge, technical zones have been converted into a teak decked solarium, underscoring the design’s emphasis on comfort and versatility.

Supernova Design Studio has successfully transformed MY SOLAFIDE into a sophisticated retreat that unites luxury, functionality, and a profound dialogue with the sea.
