Shortlisted: Residential Swimming Pool Award

The International Design & Architecture Awards 2024

Located within the serene setting of a newly constructed private residence in Hadley Wood, The Living Room proudly presents its latest project—a 1,500 sq ft Pool House embracing a fusion of rustic charm and opulent allure.

This splendid pool house stands as an embodiment of sophisticated design, featuring a swimming pool, jacuzzi, home gym, bathroom, changing area, and a plant room. The Living Room artfully captured the client’s vision, aiming to seamlessly blend raw, rustic elements with a touch of glamour.

Central to this captivating design is a 15-meter wall boasting a 120cm built-up rock formation ambiance, meticulously crafted using textured, pitted plaster. Discreet LED lighting was strategically integrated, tracing the contours of the wall, providing a dramatic aura after dark. The Living Room also introduced bronze timber sculptural pieces that add depth and intrigue to the pitted plaster, evoking a sense of theatrical elegance.

Noteworthy is the daring choice of high gloss bronze mosaics adorning the pool—a striking departure from conventional designs, yet harmoniously aligning with the pool house’s rustic tones. Additionally, antique gold reeded floor-to-ceiling panelling graces the main wall, adorned with a commanding 6ft Hamsa, symbolizing protection and strength, adding a touch of mystique.

The flooring, a testament to Milanese architecture, boasts Italian Frammenta porcelain tiles. This exquisite stone-effect porcelain mirrors the allure of natural irregular grains and pebbles, enriching the pool house with a mountainous terrain vibe.

The design’s meticulous attention to detail extends outdoors, where continuity reigns supreme. Embracing the Milanese floor tiles ‘Ceppo di Gre’, synonymous with the Italian rock found in Gre, the garden landscape echoes the pool house’s design language, crafting a seamless transition from indoors to outdoors.

The Living Room has ingeniously woven together raw, natural elements with luxurious sophistication, creating a modern sanctuary that harmonizes opulence with rustic charm. This exceptional pool house stands as a testament to The Living Room’s prowess in crafting immersive and luxurious spaces that speak to the natural beauty of the world’s mountainous regions.
