Approaching the project holistically, Westgrove prioritised the lived experience of the home as much as its visual identity. Every design decision was informed by how spaces would feel, function, and age over time. Honest, tactile materials and quiet craftsmanship define the interiors, creating warmth without sacrificing clarity or restraint. Although newly built, the house was intentionally designed to feel enduring rather than trend driven, with architectural details, material choices, and spatial flow working together to create a sense of ease and authenticity.
The single storey, open plan layout balances intimacy with functionality, supporting family life while maintaining moments of privacy and retreat. A double sided plaster fireplace anchors both the kitchen and living room, reinforcing connection between spaces. The kitchen was designed around the clients’ daily rituals, with generous preparation areas, a large island with seating, and dedicated cookbook storage for the chef clients. An open plan breakfast nook and dining area sit alongside a hard working pantry, featuring arched entries at both ends to ensure it remains visually elegant from both kitchen and living spaces.
