Wolf Lewitt Interiors Ltd

Wolf Lewitt Interiors Ltd has masterfully executed a remarkable interior design project for a former client now residing overseas. The brief included not only finding and negotiating the purchase of a suitable property but also transforming it into a home where the family could comfortably spend time together during visits to London.

Located in the conservation area within the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, the property features a characteristic white stucco exterior, seamlessly blending with the traditional architecture of the area. The design project aimed to create a layout that encouraged family bonding and casual entertaining, alongside providing bedrooms for all family members and a versatile multi-function room for TV viewing, office work, and guest accommodation.

The interior design team at Wolf Lewitt Interiors Ltd took full advantage of the property’s potential, exploring alternative layouts and uses of space to ensure maximum efficiency and clever design. Several windows were enlarged or added, flooding the home with natural light. The staircase was repositioned, and the entire first floor was devoted to a large, open plan living space, enhancing the sense of spaciousness and connectivity.

Obtaining planning permission to add a mansard roof was a pivotal move, allowing for an additional bedroom, a snug area, and a light-filled roof terrace. This expansion not only increased the living space but also introduced a delightful outdoor area that requires minimal maintenance, fulfilling another key aspect of the client’s brief.

The design flows seamlessly, with each room boasting attractive proportions and a welcoming atmosphere. A consistent palette of interior finishes and colour schemes unifies the spaces, while historical architectural features were preserved to maintain the home’s uniquely English charm. This contrast creates a distinctive and elegant environment, markedly different from the client’s permanent residence in the USA.

Traditional building methods and materials, including Welsh slate tiles for the roof and meticulously executed lead work, were used for the mansard extension, ensuring the addition’s timeless elegance and durability. The project exemplifies the expertise and creativity of Wolf Lewitt Interiors Ltd, showcasing their ability to blend functionality with aesthetic appeal in a sophisticated and cohesive design.
