Candice Kaye Design have been Shortlisted for Wallcovering Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2021.

Candice Kaye was asked to create a print that evolved beyond the original banana leaf signature print originally created for Planta in 2016 by Kaye. The newest Planta location in West Palm Beach, Florida is a nod to the plant-based menu, yet modern, fresh, and fun. The mix of geometric and playful oversized scale combined with the hand painted accents bring this print to life. The team mixed tones of greens throughout the print to give depth. Kaye mixed the painting techniques throughout the print interchanging between watercolour and gouache paint.

Each wall throughout the new Planta location has a different layout, providing a slightly new experience as you move through the space. Candice Kaye’s favourite aspect of the design is the mix of shape and geometrics throughout this wallpaper which help to bring the wall to life. The hand painted watercolour curves provide movement from wall to wall. With no repeat, each piece is installed as a mural. As you walk through the space, the walls change slightly providing a new experience.

This bespoke design works so well as it is tailored to this space, to the culture and to the brand. It reads “Plant based” design without being obvious. Plant based is the evolution meaning the design itself fits perfectly into its wider environment. It speaks to a culture that celebrates living sustainability. Planta created a concept that integrates a plant-based diet into a beautiful, upscale, and elevated dining experience.

Everything Candice Kaye Design creates is hand painted. This print was created from scratch, each piece hand painted thoughtfully, creating a bespoke design that fits a brand and a culture is a skill that Kaye has mastered.
