Tell us a little about your background in design (education, experience, etc)
I have been passionate about art and design since a very young age. I grew up in Turin, in Italy, surrounded by renowned architecture, with my mother who was a passionate painter and an art admirer. I studied History of Arts and finally made my passion for design into my profession shortly after I moved to Switzerland in the 90s when I was redesigning my own house.

How would you describe your personal design style?
My personal style is rather minimalistic and always in harmony with the natural surroundings.

Where does your design inspiration come from?
My design inspiration comes mostly from the nature, but I also get inspired a lot from fashion and art. Somehow it goes hand in hand.

In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general
sense?

I feel like the design direction is more focused on the well-being of a person
and our clients tend to ask for design that will comfort their needs and desires. With our touch and understanding of client’s personal taste we achieve the desired home.

Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in 2021 and
beyond.

Sustainability. Innovation. Quality. Comfort & last but not least, Safety.

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to design schemes,
what would it be?

To always pay attention first to the layout of the space. Then I visualize every angle of the space with light, colour palette and potential furniture pieces. The goal is to place all in harmony to achieve a harmonized interior design. It is important that selected furniture pieces lay in place.

How important are The International Design & Architecture Awards?
The International Design & Architecture Awards allow creative talents to get a chance of being recognized internationally. Of course, the visibility comes with it too. For a growing interior designer, it is an honour to participate in The International Design and Architecture Awards.

What projects are you currently working on?
At the moment, at MI, we are working on several residential projects including new apartment buildings and villas. Besides residential projects, we are also open to work on commercial projects, like we did in the past two years. At the moment we are working on a special project in hospitality sector – a smart hotel.

What was your favourite project to work on and why?
My favourite project was designing the Italian restaurant Doppio Gusto, for
which we got also awarded with International Property Awards 2020. It is one of my favourite projects of my career. The major aspect that plays role in this would be my freedom to express and integrate more of my personal Italian style.

What was your most challenging project to work on and why?
Our commercial project Body Fit (fitness centre & spa), where an open space of over 2000m2 had to be designed and furnished in harmony in order to fit well together.

Which products/services could you not live without when designing?
Visualisation. It is one of the best ways to imagine the final result and better
understand the volume of the space and light.

What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?
Our aim for the near future is to focus on optimization of our work processes and organise work flow in an efficient way.

Final thoughts; tell us a little more about yourself and your daily inspirations:

Your most treasured possession?
My Iphone.
Your favourite holiday destination?
I personally adore destinations with beautiful nature, turquoise sea
landscapes and great local food. My top 3 destination are Puglia, Sardegna
& Maldives!
Your favourite hotel, restaurant & bar?
When I travel for business or recreation I tend to stay in unique hotels, which have add a special experience to my stay. I can say that I love boutique hotels. One of my favourites that I can think of right now is 27 Hotel in Amsterdam. When it comes to restaurants and comfort food, of course it has to be Italian cuisine – Casa Ferlin in Zurich. One of my favourite bars is the Sanctuary Ostun, in Puglia.
Your favourite book, film & song?
Usually I don’t have much time to read but when I do, I prefer
psychoanalytical books, my favourite is ‘The Indigo Adults’. Lately, I have
seen many nice movies. I prefer the inspirational ones, Forrest Gump or
Benjamin Button, always.
Your favourite food and drink?
I cannot think of one favourite dish, but I always enjoy a nice glass of
champagne and fresh oysters.
Your favourite way to spend an afternoon?
If I could, it would be at the beach and swimming all day in the sea.
If you weren’t a designer, what would you be?
Probably a psychologist or a lawyer.
