Tell us a little about your background in design:
I have over 20 years of experience as a trained interior designer, my passion for colour started at college where I studied Fine Art & Design, where I graduated with BA Hons.
How would you describe your personal design style?
Classic Contemporary.
Where does your design inspiration come from?
I see any space/project as a blank canvas by slowly building on the shape, colour, texture and light you can help create an individual design suited perfectly to the project/Client.
In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?
The environment is now a key feature in any design, sustainability and the environmental impact is now very important.
Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in 2020 and beyond.
– Sustainability.
– Vintage Pieces.
– Independent Retailers.
– Local Companies.
– Carbon Footprint.
If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to design schemes, what would it be?
Be open minded and not to get stuck repeating the same design throughout and always listen to the client.
How important are The International Design & Architecture Awards?
Very as it’s a great platform for other people in the industry to view work/projects they wouldn’t normally see and it gives smaller designers a voice.
What projects are you currently working on?
Michelin Star Private Dining, Mayfair Executive Offices, Corporate Office Café and Breakout Area, Main Reception Winnersh Triangle Office Park , Shop in Henley on Thames
What was your favourite project to work on and why?
A very large residential country estate in Oxfordshire because of the fantastic clients and the great spaces to work with. Redesigning the whole house to feel like a home, using contemporary and classic vintage, throughout the mixture of the two styles really bought the house to life.
What was your most challenging project to work on and why?
The hotel in France due to communication through different languages and not being able to be on site as much as I wanted to, also getting deliveries delivered to the top of a mountain can be a challenge! But perseverance between the client and myself saw the project develop into something I am extremely proud of.
Which products/services could you not live without when designing?Chelsea Harbour Design Centre & my EA Lindsay
What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?
To complete all the exciting new projects I have on the go and to try and find some normality in the crazy times we are living in!
