Element Living
Element Living have been shortlisted for Living Space – London Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards.
The President of a public real estate investment company wanted to develop this apartment to sell to a wealthy private buyer with the assistance of Element Living’s design. 10 Palace Gate was completed in 1939 by the builder Randall Bell, the building is a Modernist structure in the tradition of Le Corbusier and Walter Gropius. The building is of significant interest to the 20th Century Society.
To reflect Modernist architecture in the 1930s, Element Living took it from there and created an Art Deco style. The real estate client sold this multi-million-pound apartment to a private buyer by showing the existing apartment and selling the dream only from Element Living’s design presentation for the Entry Way, Living Area, Joinery, New Bathrooms, and new flooring throughout.
The client then introduced Element Living to the Buyer who had the following design brief: a vibrant Living Area full of energy and colour that is also quiet and peaceful; to be a pied-a-terre with the look of a boutique hotel; to follow the brief in accordance with the buyer’s subdued personality. Element Living developed a Great Gatsby-esque concept that is striking yet peaceful with a total absence of bling.
In the living area, Element Living introduced the most striking mustard colour combined with dark chocolate brown, black and gold with the backdrop of a cinematography artwork to keep the rest of the room subdued, calm and quiet. Shapes and colours were important to this design scheme, with numerous angles and soft curves both on the sofa and the surface of the rug with deep, lavish colours and textures, the stool in tobacco leather, the antique brass studs and the cowhide rug. The vibrant Living Room complements the elegance of a Great Gatsby theme yet remains calm and peaceful. All rooms have their own individual look and feel but work so well together creating the sense of a boutique hotel that the client wished for.
