Estudio Design have been shortlisted for Interior Design Scheme Europe Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2023.

This neoclassic townhouse dates back to the 1920’s and is located in a quiet area in Oslo, Norway. The residence is composed of a ground floor, first floor and a basement floor which offers a comfortable space to welcome a young family.  

For Estudio Design, the main focus of this project was to celebrate and embrace the historical aspects of this building. They made a thoughtful decision to retain and highlight all of the original features of the townhouse such as the arched and stained-glass windows and implement them into a more functional and modern space. The design process therefore required an in-depth analysis of the space, and a strong understanding of its structure and architecture in order to create a harmonious place.  

The townhouse went under a full renovation with carpenters completely rebuilding the structure of the building, and electricians installing a brand new electrical system. Spacial planning was also a key element of this project to reach a perfect balance between structure and architecture, space and volume, old and new.   

Estudio Design has managed to create a cohesive residential living space by bringing a modern and functional touch to an old and classical building which offers a unique atmosphere.
