Feasby & Bleeks Design have been shortlisted for Living Space – Canada Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2023.

Felbrigg project is a custom-built 5000 square foot home and a modern take on a French-inspired interior. Feasby & Bleeks wanted a home that celebrates classic architecture with details influenced by French châteaux, however, their overall aim was to create a welcoming, comfortable, and contemporary feel. 

This home is situated in Toronto, surrounded by homes of varying architectural styles. The designers carried this same aesthetic and approach through the interior; each space feels special in its way.

However, Feasby & Bleeks had to find the right balance between a classic and timeless home yet with a strong contemporary feel. Throughout the space, you can find many details such as the arched openings mixed with classic yet modern lighting, European oak herringbone floors mixed with cool metal doors, light-filled neutral interior mixed with lots of colorful elements and patterns. The mix of strategic display and functional storage throughout the space is well-proportioned and integrated into the design. 

Carpentry and craftsmanship were necessary to execute and showcase the architectural detail and elements, their skills can be seen in the unique ceiling designs, trim details, custom doors, stair railings, trim work, and paneling. The designers worked with many local work-rooms to make and build custom furniture for their clients and from an ecological perspective. It was also important for them to use wherever possible natural, sustainable materials throughout the interior.

This project works so well because it offers many layers of details, textures, and materials that balance both classic and contemporary design.
