Halo Design Interiors
Halo Design Interiors have been shortlisted for Bathroom Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards.
The Master Bathroom in Lowndes Place was created to form part of the master brief of the whole project. Part of a Grade II listed renovation, the emphasis was on creating a calm, light and serene interior, to give the clients a retreat in the heart of the historic enclave of Belgravia. For Halo Design Interiors, the emphasis was on simplicity and timelessness, with a request from the clients to ensure that the designs were practical as well as beautiful. The historic nature of the property gave the space a framework within which the designs were to be fitted, in a seamless and natural way. There was to be respectful of its history, whilst breathing new life into a building which had last been refurbished some thirty years previously.
The master bathroom, as part of the main master suite, was to be carved from the space which was previously occupied by a kitchen and dining room. The scale of the ceilings and the existing architectural elements which were preserved, offered an exciting challenge to the Halo Design Interiors team and one which they relished, by reworking several proposals before hitting on one which gave the clients the sense of space and understated grandeur they required, as well as the practical aim of ensuring there was enough wardrobe storage.
The Master Bathroom also became home to a feature stone wall, which cut across the classical features of the space it inhabited and gave an organic backdrop to a delicate porcelain light installation and a large feature bath below. The heights of the ceilings with their intricate cornicing, and their grand proportions offered wonderful scale to play with, as well as challenging Halo Design Interiors to create the intimate family home which the clients had requested.
The design sits perfectly within the wider environment of the house, as it respects the original fabric of the building, whilst giving it a new lease of life. The materials were picked for their quality and their timelessness and the design of the bathroom was undertaken with respect for the framework within which it was going to sit.
