Bone Interior Design Studio have been shortlisted for Regeneration/ Restoration Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2023.

Bone Interior Design Studio embarked on a remarkable journey of transformation with a full renovation project, breathing new life into an original Italian villa style house. This venture was no ordinary renovation; it was a complete gut and rebuild that allowed for unrestricted design creativity. The repeat client’s unwavering trust in the studio paved the way for an extraordinary outcome where every element, architecturally and otherwise, was bespoke.

From the moment the Italian villa style house was demolished, the studio envisioned a space that would seamlessly merge the indoors with the outdoors. They raised the slabs and ceilings and broke through with large scaled arched glazing details to allow the home to breathe. For this client entertaining was important so the link between the dining, lounge clusters and the al fresco outdoor dining needed to flow with each other. By adopting an open-plan layout, the studio achieved a sense of visual expansiveness, erasing boundaries between the interior and exterior.

Architectural precision was paramount throughout the project. The radius of the entrance arch, the hallway bulkheads, and the end glazed window arch were meticulously aligned, creating a cohesive and visually pleasing space. The studio’s attention to detail extended to the interior design, where the introduction of organic curves softened every facet. A custom couch mirrored the arc of joinery recesses, while curved doorways and sanded sandstone architraves brought an inviting touch to the space. The ellipse-shaped chiselled bath, rounded treads of the staircase and even the warmth of the lighting design further emphasised the organic softness that enveloped the home. These subtle architectural details transformed the home from a potential gallery-like space into a cosy sanctuary.

The studio’s design prowess shone through in the custom pergola, which not only added a dynamic visual element but also provided the perfect interplay of dappled light for the client’s entertaining needs. The iconic black and white marble floor in the entrance hallway became a testament to the home’s character, leaving a lasting impression on visitors. The studio’s unwavering commitment to exceptional quality was exemplified through the inclusion of custom patterned floors and a meticulously hand-chiselled Namibian sandstone bath, showcasing their dedication to exquisite craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail. To elevate the sensory experience, the designers created a roof garden that seamlessly invited nature into the heart of the home, creating a serene and rejuvenating atmosphere.
