Tell us a little about your background in design:
I trained at Chelsea College of Art and National Design Academy. I was very lucky to jump start my career in interior design with high end studios such as Fenton Whelan and 1508 London before I opened my studio.
How would you describe your personal design style?
Contemporary Art Deco
Where does your design inspiration come from?
It comes from my clients… always. Then we look for inspiration on Pinterest, in restaurants, nature, in fabrics, wherever the direction takes us.
In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?
After almost two years of a very challenging period, we can expect the trend of ‘positivity’ to counterbalance the negativity we all experienced. What that means for interiors is embracing bright colours, bold patterns and exaggerated proportions. There is a definite move towards luxury and extravagance. The design is definitely embracing more technology and collaborations, so moving towards more sustainability.
Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in 2022 and beyond.
Maximalism, Bold, Luxury, Extravagance, Personal
If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to design schemes, what would it be?
Always aim for consistency and harmony.
How important are The International Design & Architecture Awards?
The International Design & Architecture Awards are setting the standards for the industry awards so are pivotal to recognising the excellence of design and architecture practises.
What projects are you currently working on?
We’re working on a partial built and remodel of a gorgeous top flat in Chelsea and a home remodel for a retired couple in Cambridgeshire.
What was your favourite project to work on and why?
Scandinavian Style Family Home Remodel – it was so easy to design as the clients were very clear on their vision.
What was your most challenging project to work on and why?
Prefer not to say… whenever the clients don’t know what they want or they give us the wrong brief, that’s when the projects can become very challenging.
Which products/services could you not live without when designing?
We rely on our Apple Macs, Vectorworks and InDesign for our work, so these products are a must. I always have my iMac and MacBook Air on the side so I can design faster. We love a couple of suppliers who always ensure we get regular updates on the products and CPDs if relevant (Casamance, Romo, Elitis, Creations Metaphores, Iguzzini, Phos lighting, Visual Comfort, Tech Tile). I love reading Elle Decor and Architectural Digest every month that keeps me inspired.
What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?
We’re doing a big rebranding at the moment, and within the next twelve months we’ll have a completely new website which we are very excited about. Our goal is also to include more projects abroad as we love working globally.
Final thoughts; tell us a little more about yourself and your daily inspirations:
Your most treasured possession?
My jewellery – every piece reminds me of a person or/and event from my life and has a story.
Your favourite holiday destination?
Any tropical island
Your favourite hotel, restaurant & bar?
Favourite Hotel: Du Pont Smith in Paris.
Restaurants: The Ivy Cambridge, The Crown & Punchbowl (Horningsea). Bar & Restaurant: 14 Hills, London.
Your favourite book, film & song?
Favourite book: love too many but ‘Things that I know for sure’ by Oprah Winfrey made a big impression on me.
Old time favourite film: “La vita e Bella”.
Favourite music: love all Cuban Salsa/Timba songs.
Your favourite food and drink?
I love Mediterranean cuisine. My favourite drink would be most likely tonic water (with or without gin).
Your favourite way to spend an afternoon?
A meal out ideally alfresco, followed by a walk in nature and a bit of reading.
If you weren’t a designer, what would you be?
A therapist or a forensic phonetician; I used to be a lecturer so failing everything I would be still that.
Anything else interesting?
I recently finished training in House Whispering and am very excited about including this service in our design package to help our clients harmonise their lives.
