Tell us a little about your background in design (education, experience, etc)

I started my career as an artist and then quickly evolved into a designer. At a young age I became interested in painting and began to explore my creative talent in the field.  Once I completed my higher education in Yerevan, Armenia I became completely immersed in the art world. When I moved to the United States, my paintings advanced into room murals and then progressed into large hospitality and residential projects. 

How would you describe your personal design style?

I would say my “signature” style is a mixture of contemporary and transitional.  I love the juxtaposition of the old and the new.

Where does your design inspiration come from?

Inspiration is all around us. One only requires an artistic eye to appreciate and comprehend how to utilize the vision and bring it to life.

In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?

Technology has made the process of design easier by offering different platforms to the creative field.  At the same time, it’s made it more complicated to produce original content because everything has become main stream.

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to design schemes, what would it be?

To develop a good design scheme, it’s essential to make it a collaboration between creative inspiration and psychology.  In order to find effective solutions to design problems, you must blur the boundaries between the two.

How important are The International Design & Architecture Awards?

As a small design studio to be internationally recognized is a great accomplishment.  It’s a motivation to further expand our brand in the industry.

What projects are you currently working on?

We currently have several residential and restaurant projects in the works.

What was your favourite project to work on and why?

In the residential category, the Wonderview project was our favorite.  The design process advanced smoothly and effectively as the client gave us complete freedom to implement our creative talents.

What was your most challenging project to work on and why?

Thus far most challenging project has been a residential project where the previous contractor had torn down a historical building without permission, leaving us to restore it to its original condition.

Which products/services could you not live without when designing?

Sketch paper, architectural pens, pencils, scale, ruler and tape measure.

What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?

Our goal for the upcoming year is to expand the studio as well as open a showroom that represents our own line of products, such as furniture, lighting, cabinetry and finishes.
