Inko by Hatch Interiors

Seaford Grange by Bellway & Inko by Hatch Interiors

Inko by Hatch Interiors have been shortlisted for Living Space – UK Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards.

Unlike the average show home, this standout property has an unconventional coastal vibe and the charm of a lived-in, lively home. When property developer Bellway wanted something fresh and original for a show home at Seaford Grange, they approached Inko by Hatch Interiors. This unique brief called for a design that was not polished and pristine, but cosy and lived in.

To create the illusion that a lively family inhabits the space, Inko’s design embraces the coastal setting and local community, and features an exceptional level of styling detail. The result, which delights both client and potential buyers, is that visitors feel so comfortable, it is as though they are stepping into a real family home. Inko by Hatch Interiors felt it important that the kitchen be the heart of the home, encouraging family activities. In that vein, squishy sofas were chosen alongside homely touches. Eschewing an obvious nautical theme for something more subtle, the colour palette is bright and crisp. The softer hues and warm woods give a welcoming ambience, and the layered textiles invite visitors to sit down and snuggle up.

For a truly personal feel, Inko by Hatch Interiors used custom touches, such as the wall panelling and bespoke joinery. Envisioning the type of family that might call the place home, the designers made a craft space in the study. It features a classic Singer sewing machine and wall-mounted ribbon dispenser. The walls throughout have been given special attention, featuring artworks that reflect the area, a chalkboard wall, and children’s drawings.

Keeping the kitchen as the hub of this family home, the dining table is custom-made using reclaimed wood. It is staged to look as though someone is in the middle of a baking project. The walls are adorned with relevant yet whimsical wall décor, including photos of a shore and gold lobster sculptures.

By using traditional elements in a contemporary way, Inko by Hatch Interiors breathed life into a blank space, one which continues to make visitors feel at home.
