Jessica May Design Ltd have been shortlisted for Residential Market Value £1-2.5 Million Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2023.
Jessica May Design recently completed a remarkable project in Wakefield, a 5 bedroom, 5,000 sq ft family home. The property required a complete overhaul on the ground floor to allow the family to effortlessly utilize the entire footprint of the home. The designers were responsible for creating the full interior architecture and design scheme, which was implemented through to completion.
The project was initially intended to redesign the master bedroom, but upon visiting the property, Jessica May Design recognized the potential for a complete transformation of the entire space. The existing layout was inadequate, with the kitchen and main lounge space occupying less than 20% of the overall ground floor, and the family spending 90% of their time confined to a small section of the home. With the clients’ permission, the team measured the ground floor and began redesigning the space, resulting in a remarkable transformation of the flow and usability of the house.
The previously unused large space has now become the heart of the home, serving as the kitchen, lounge, and diner, and is the hub where the family spends most of their time. The final design is breathtaking.
The overall scheme palette is a neutral, contemporary, and livable space, with a focus on investment and show-stopping pieces in some areas while being mindful of cost-saving measures in others. The clients, who are influencers, wanted to incorporate affordable pieces into the design to engage their following, which Jessica May Design accomplished brilliantly without sacrificing the space’s high-end feel.
The property boasts stunning 360 views of greenery and fields for miles, making the tonal and neutral scheme a perfect choice. With a large amount of glass doors and windows, adding any bold injection of color would have clashed with the surroundings, and Jessica May Design was keen on creating a space that blends seamlessly with the vibrant surroundings.
For Jessica May Design, this project is a special one, as it began with a team of three and ended with a studio of nine. The project marked a significant growth for the company, and it is a celebration of how far they have come and what they achieved in the past year. The transformation of the home has changed the family’s day-to-day life, and the satisfaction of knowing they made that happen is the best feeling in the world.
