Maison du Savoir

Latvian Apartment by Maison du Savoir

Maison du Savoir have been shortlisted for Living Space – Europe Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2023.

Maison du Savoir has unveiled a luxurious residential project in Latvia that showcases their unique mastery in design and craftsmanship. The project, which is located in a resort city, was a collaborative effort between artisans, engineers, and the design team to create a contemporary solution that boasts bespoke craftsmanship, bold aesthetics, sophisticated design, and rare materials.

Maison du savoir

The apartment, which spans the entire floor of the building, is a tribute to craftsmanship and timeless aesthetics. It features a spacious living room that seamlessly connects to an open bar area, home office, two master bedrooms, four bathrooms, a gym, home cinema, and a terrace that provides a stunning view of the pine forest and sea. The design brief was to use textures and finishes usually seen on yachts to match the scent of the sea wafting into the apartment. The design team took this literally, and all the finishes used on the built-in furniture, panelling, and flooring are typically found in marine yachts.

Maison du savoir

The peculiarity of this project is that it developed metropolitan aesthetics in the heart of a resort city. A yacht, as mentioned previously, floating in the middle of the pine forest, all towards the seacoast. Yacht-making skills, knowledge of techniques, and finishes used in marine were applied to create this stunning apartment. The use of decorative wall finishing skills, Armourcoat polished plaster walls, and marble mosaics required a team of artisans to achieve the desired quality work. All the built-in furniture is done with four layers of isolant, four layers of primer, and four layers of lacquer, polished to a mirror-quality finish, all with materials typically used in marine design.

According to Maison du Savoir, this project is the ultimate answer to the question of what new luxury is. It is an interior that evokes desire, clear opulent associations, allows one to feel in control of space and time, and, most importantly, combines sustainable awareness and respect for craftsmanship. The project showcases the unique mastery of Maison du Savoir in design and continuous creative thinking processes.
