Villa 90 A Bellamont by LT Interior Design

LT Interior Design have been shortlisted for Living Space – Global Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2021.

LT Interior Design always works to design projects with a ‘Sense of Place’. The initial objective is always to bring the outside in and integrate indoor and outdoor, to form one visual plain. The off-shutter concrete finish & clean lines of the Architectural elements of Villa 90 A Bellamont have been softened with interior finishes that reflect this sense of place. A sanctuary for the client merges the exterior to the interior.

The ‘Sense of Place’ grounds the interiors with its relation to the property’s location. The sea view from this residence is spectacular, and is something that the designers wanted to reflect into the interiors. This was achieved by bringing in the massive custom-made wool rug into the living area which was designed to represent the ripples in the sea. The custom, handknotted 80m2 angled rug was custom designed by Leigh Ann, working with a local artist and is a true reflection of skill and craftsmanship. The surrounding fabrics and finishes are all based on a neutral plain palette which softens the boldness of the design. The hard off-shutter concrete walls are, in some instances, treated with a grey mirror to bring all the views of the ocean and the indigenous bush into the living space.

The client wanted a home that was warm and inviting for family and friends to gather, therefore fabrics and furniture needed to be specified accordingly, whilst keeping a clean modern line. All the cabinetry was custom designed and installed by a local talented furniture maker and shopfitters. Throughout the living space is purchased bespoke artwork and sculpture that the client had requested to mix with his existing pieces. The property’s hard surfaces of terrazzo floors and shutter concrete walls and surfaces felt cold and stark, and the sound generally needed to be diffused to create a comfortable environment. The angled carpet in the main living area was necessary to bring in the base colours into the space and buffer the clients extensive sound equipment as part of the acoustics in the area. For LT Interior Design, working with this unique space was her favourite aspect of the project, and having worked with this client on his previous homes, creating a living space that he was happy with.
