Lynne Hunt London

Chelsea Townhouse by Lynne Hunt London

Lynne Hunt London have been shortlisted for Interior Design Scheme – London Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards.

Set behind a traditional red brick pillared façade lies the contemporary interior of this Art collectors’ home. The brief for Lynne Hunt London was to create a subtle backdrop in a contemporary style reflecting original reference to the era of when the house was built.

The subtle scheme and finishes palette allow the artworks to be showcased, which include a large collection of contemporary art in large scale format, such as the feature sky light, along with video works, and a collection of sculpture and furniture pieces. The house has a wonderful central staircase which has a beautiful new Richard Wright skylight art piece installed which creates a dappled light throughout the wrap around concrete staircase with the original mahogany handrail and bronze metal work which were restored.

Lynne Hunt London painted the walls in a soft and subtle ivory hue, enhanced with a silky mink Silk carpet runner which sits perfectly against the concrete staircase treads. The main living room is finished with a Larchwood wide plank floor, a gas woodburning fireplace sits within the original marble traditional fire surround which has concrete effect lining. The large-scale sash windows are enhanced with subtle linen drapes on bronze French rails. Furniture comprises of a large and contemporary Cassina Piero Lissoni linen sofa, with a turned wood occasional table by Charles Dudouyt, c. 1940, a wood coffee table from Pierre Chapo, c. 1960, alongside two antique Paimio Armchairs by Alvar Aalton c. 1932.

The lower ground floor comprises of the family kitchen and dining area which again has poured concrete floors, Christopher Peacock kitchen with Wolf Sub-Zero appliances, and Clayworks textured wall finishes with a contrast of textured exposed brick cladding to the dining area which continues through to the landscaped tiered brick finished garden walls.

Lynne Hunt London’s contemporary design creates a soft and calming atmosphere, its subtlety allows the artwork to be showcased without compromising the interior finishes.
