Mariapala Miele & Malibu Design Center have been shortlisted for Interior Design Scheme – Americas Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards.

Malibu Design Center were enlisted for the interior remodel of this luxurious property in Agoura Hills, California. The aspirational home benefits from big open spaces and panoramic views through its large windows. Malibu Design Center wanted to ensure that the space was carefully considered and that the interiors felt clean and uncluttered.

Malibu Design Center’s favourite aspect of working on this remodel was the master suite. The designer refers to the suite as ‘The Secret Room’, in the existing layout there was a hidden room in the back of the master bathroom that was not utilised, and the master suite was chopped and disconnected. By opening the space and highlighting the outdoors with windows all around, the vision became a reality. The designers were able to transform this room into a calming sanctuary to relax and unwind.

It’s easy to fill a space with all different kinds of furniture, but to be able to simplify the space whilst upholding the luxury element can be much more difficult. By simplifying the space, Malibu Design Center were able to accomplish a great design concept which makes the most out of the architecture and the beautiful outdoor scenery that can be seen from any angle.
