Roelfien Vos Interior Design & Architecture have been shortlisted for Ski / Chalet in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2023.

This exquisite double penthouse, expertly designed by renowned interior designer Roelfien Vos, presents itself as the quintessential winter retreat, affording breathtaking vistas of the glistening slopes. Situated within a newly constructed apartment building, Roelfien Vos meticulously orchestrated the spatial layout of the abode and curated bespoke interiors throughout. Honoring the rich heritage of the surrounding locale, the design seamlessly interweaves traditional materials with a palette of inviting hues and sumptuous textures.

At the outset of the project, the client expressed the desire for ample space to accommodate twelve individuals for post-skiing dinners and provide comfortable sleeping quarters. In response, Roelfien Vos orchestrated a comprehensive overhaul of the double penthouse’s configuration, ingeniously crafting six bedrooms, each graced with its own en suite bathroom. In a nod to the Swiss environment, the esteemed designer selected stones hailing from the very facades adorning the local village houses for the living room fireplace, subtly imbuing the residence with a distinct regional essence.

To engender an atmosphere of cozy intimacy, Roelfien Vos opted to expose the beams while adorning the walls with wallpaper and generously draping them in opulent fabrics. 

In the upstairs living room, which is accompanied by a secondary living area downstairs, the designers envisioned an inviting arrangement with twin seating enclaves flanking the fireplace, thus ensuring its status as a captivating centerpiece while preserving an overall sense of openness and transparency. To accentuate the room’s impressive height, the designer commissioned Dutch artist Pleunie Buyink to fashion bespoke artwork adorned with clusters of glass spheres, capturing and reflecting light to mesmerizing effect.

Positioned directly on the slopes and affording a veritable feast for the eyes, this chalet occupies a coveted location within one of Switzerland’s most resplendent ski areas. Eager to integrate the external ambiance, regional materials, and warm tones into the interior realm, Roelfien Vos deftly incorporated wooden roof structures, a harmonious interplay of stone, glass, and cozy textiles, evoking an undeniable wintry chalet aesthetic.
