Arteriors have been Shortlisted for Lighting Piece Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2021.

Driving the designs for Arteriors’ SS2021 additions is the dichotomy of using contrasting ideas within a room. The Rondelle Chandelier by Arteriors is a modern understanding of a classic lighting piece, showcasing masterful craftsmanship. In this sophisticated lighting design, function and art are intertwined to create unique luxury within the piece. The textural details and classic concept elevate the opulence of the chandelier, making it a perfect match for timeless interiors.

Laura Kirar’s collaboration with Arteriors highlight the beauty of raw materials, natural elements and the originality and creativity of the designer herself. Starting with a fragment, sketch or even just a memory, Laura takes an idea and commits it to paper or sometimes even to clay – celebrating fine craftsmanship with her thoughtful attention to detail.

Contemporary and industrial with a slight Deco appeal, this eight-light chandelier fits the bill for essential modern lighting. A blackened iron frame presents a myriad of clear seedy glass discs, each paired with another by an iron spoke. Clear seedy glass diamond-shaped embellishments further accent the frame that is suspended by a unique hook chain—a technical detail that plays up its modern aesthetic.

The Rondelle has a clean, less is more, underlying approach to its final look. Designed to hang like a piece of art whether switched on or off, it’s transparent marbled and rippled textures, delicately imprinted glass work and the use of tessellating shapes gives the piece a depth and character – a modern take on the medieval chevalier pendant design.

The collaboration between Arteriors and Laura Kirar was inspired by delicate hand wrought ironwork and European blow-glass windows.

Laura Kirar has commented that one of the key aspects of this piece is the chains. The Rondelle features hand-blown glass discs and stars which are bound together with a handmade iron chain and armature. Laura and Arteriors designed small hook ‘chains’ to link the arms with the ceiling gallery – a distinguishing detail to add further interest to this piece.

The glass discs are hand-blown to produce a rippled, frosting effect which exudes light marvellously when illuminated.

The Rondelle has an original quality in form and structure, with delicate finishing and artisanal techniques even in the smallest of details – this unique piece remains timeless and classic in feeling.
