Morpheus & Co
Morpheus & Co have been shortlisted for Interior Design Scheme – London Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2023.
Morpheus & Co recently completed a remarkable project – The Cleveland, a 915 sq. ft. property situated on Pall Mall. The property, purchased as a London pied-a-terre, posed a unique challenge as the owners mostly reside overseas. The design brief called for a practical yet comfortable and welcoming space, adorned with high-quality finishes to exude an elegant, hotel-like ambiance.
Working within the confines of a historic building, Morpheus & Co skilfully maintained the original grandeur, ensuring a seamless blend of classic and contemporary elements throughout the apartment. The team took inspiration from the property’s striking architecture, desirable location, and the client’s love for vintage cars and British craftsmanship.
To create a sense of flow and connectedness, Morpheus & Co employed a neutral palette with accents of mustard, petrol blue, and warm metal tones, perfectly capturing the client’s passion for classic cars and hotel-style luxury. The firm was mindful of sustainability, opting to collaborate with British furniture makers and craftspeople with strong heritage values, which not only fulfilled the client’s preference for British-led design but also reduced the project’s carbon footprint.
A highlight of The Cleveland’s interior design is the bespoke Bioethanol fireplace, meticulously curated by Morpheus & Co to fit into a custom media shelving unit made by Lacaze. Apart from its aesthetic appeal, the fireplace is an environmentally friendly and sustainable option, catering to the client’s desire for easy-care features.
Transforming the lower-ground floor apartment posed another challenge for the design team, with the narrow and tight layout requiring a thoughtful and clever approach. Morpheus & Co ingeniously created a multi-purpose kitchen, living, and dining space, utilizing taller furniture to add height and depth. The bespoke high bar table by Lacaze, with an oak veneer finish and champagne metal bolt details, served as a practical and stylish centrepiece.
In the living area, the bespoke three-seater sofa by Lacaze, with low-curved armrests and a deep buttoned back, provided comfortable seating while elegantly delineating the living room area from the dining section. Striking accent colours were introduced through cushions from De Le Cuona in mustard and petrol blue, and a bespoke ombre-effect rug by Loomah added visual interest.
The principal suite received the same meticulous attention to detail, with a bespoke, upholstered petrol blue velvet bed by Lacaze featuring vertical ruching on the headboard for added texture and luxury. Art deco-inspired pieces, such as bedside tables from Sofa & Chair Co and table lamps from Heathfield & Co, contributed to the overall sophisticated and cohesive design.
