YVETTE TAYLOR INTERIORS
Yvette Taylor Interiors have been shortlisted for Regeneration / Restoration Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards.
Yvette Taylor Interiors were enlisted for the restoration of a beautiful 230 years old, Grade II listed stone cottage located in the picturesque village Barnsley in the Cotswolds. The brief was to design a cosy and comfortable weekend retreat for the family away from the pressures of life in Central London. It was vital to restore the original beauty of the property whilst also introducing a range of chic, eye-catching, bright, and colourful designs in a country style to reflect the building’s long history.
The extent of the work included; four new bathrooms, improvements to the existing kitchen and new appliances, new limestone flooring in the kitchen and entrance hall, period oak flooring on the ground floor, sisal carpets on the first floor, and stone flooring in natural limestone, with sisal floor coverings new replicas of the original interior doors, gun-sanding of the original beams to restore their beauty, new French doors, a gym in the basement, refurbishment of the garage and enhancement of all the stonework.
The property was completely re-wired to the latest standards with brass switches and new technology. A new remote-controlled heating system was installed using copper piping with Carron period radiators throughout the house. Bespoke Joinery was incorporated in the oak interior doors, bookshelves, and storage areas.
The selection of every material was carefully considered by Yvette Taylor Interiors. This was crucial to restoring the house to its original beauty and respecting the architectural style of a period stone house. The house is part of a beautiful Cotswold village which consists of Grade II listed stone houses and a boutique hotel, Barnsley House. The traditional country-style theme was rigorously applied to all areas of the house.
Yvette Taylor Interiors believe that the design was so successful due to the entire selection of fabrics, wallpapers, furniture, lighting, rugs, flooring, and bathrooms fittings which complemented the period style of the house. The use of the Caron radiators also helped to accentuate the traditional look.
