KH Studio have been shortlisted for Restaurant – Middle East & Africas Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2023.

The inspiration for this project came from looking back to the ancient Egyptian era and breaking down what building materials were used to fulfil their needs and create timeless elements. Overall, the elements help provide a warm feel, with a touch of natural elements complementing the general look.

The client wanted to design a café that would perfectly suit the destination. Having a coffee in the largest museum in the world dedicated to one civilization under one roof is a big thing. The design must not obstruct with the pharaonic features or looks as it cannot compare. So, the challenge was selecting appropriate materials, bar positioning, and the flow of tourists walking in and seeing the amazing view ahead. 30 North is an Egyptian home grown brand built from scratch, having said that KH Studio wanted to make sure the outlet stood out and felt special and that’s why they had to ensure the design was spot on, international level and had a flawless manoeuvring to enhance the guest experience.

This design works so well as the museum is created all in granite and stone and the display is all in stone so KH Studio felt the cafe needed to be soft and must feel relaxing so that you can enjoy the view whilst taking a break. Hence the use of wood and the implementation of plants to warm up the place and soften the look.

The café is meant to be the opposite of the wider environment to provide a softer look and feel which will grab the attention of the tourists and make them feel welcomed after they finish with their tour.
