Sands Corporation
Sands Corporation have been shortlisted for Hotel Suite – Asia Pacific Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2021.
Embodying a residential feel, London-based David Collins Studio crafted spaces peppered with subtle references to David Beckham’s renowned football career and his personal life. The use of traditional British tailoring fabrics patterns, such as houndstooth, Prince of Wales check, and pinstripe are a nod to London’s infamous Savile Row and Jermyn Street. Leather broguing details also reference his love of quintessentially British heritage brand Church’s Shoes. Regency timber-work lines the arrival hall, scattered with iconic pieces and beautifully lit images. A black and white chequer floor evokes the spirit of arrival – the instant backdrop to a million posts.
Gone are those typical endless corridor views. In their place eccentrically, fabric-lined foyers to enclose each suite’s entrance. Individuality, intrigue and exclusivity mark the space. You find your suite with ease. No need for room numbers – a unique coat of arms, inspired by London boroughs, adorns the door. And such a door. London lacquered, umbrella propped, newspaper rolled. Subtly lit with the warm glow of a London street of old. Whether blue or green, deep rich colours transport you through the lacquer lined, plaster crowned portal into your ultimate dream of residential luxury.
Hand-picked bespoke pieces referencing British forms. Each suite features dining, lounging and perching to satisfy each and every occasion. Precision, ceremony, operations and usability have all been carefully considered to ensure an experience like no other. Bedrooms are calm, luxurious and individual. Each one sporting unexpected moments of whimsy, character and charm. Warmth and comfort, with hints of glamour to capture the heart of the London homestead.
Throughout the suites a clever mix of materials is adopted, to reference British patterns and textures, updated and restyled to create unique juxtapositions. High gloss coloured lacquer lines the walls, with screens and panels inspired by great British cabinet makers, to create moments of intimacy. Bespoke drinks cabinets and coat closets add to the residential feel. To the delight of David Beckham, subtle footballing references appear throughout, including hexagonal embossing to Master Bedroom furniture, chevron patterned textured glass in the bathrooms and custom football-inspired pendant lights. Bathrooms are wrapped in marble, with custom dark bronze sanitaryware by Hansgrohe.
In the largest Beckham suite, a secret door leads the guest into a small replica of the Connaught bar – David’s favourite bar in London, also designed by David Collins Studio.
