Tell us a little about your background in design (education, experience, etc)
My name is Benyapa (Air). I graduated from Faculty of Architecture Chulalongkorn University majoring in Industrial Design. I started my interior design firm 6 years ago.  

How would you describe your personal interior design style?
Mixture of natural and futuristic style with unique accent

Where does your design inspiration come from?
I Inspired by things that are around me. From trees, sky to everyday objects that are around me, I look at them and I feel inspired to create new concepts for my design. I’m constantly searching for new things to add to my work e.g. colours, textures and compositions. All of these things come together to make beautiful and unique design. For me good design is in the details. All the interior design elements e.g. floor, wall, ceiling, selection of a faucet, a colour that we use, and scale of the furniture, these are all very important. I go into very single detail to make sure that very thing has been think through to satisfy our client needs. Understanding the client and be able to communicate to create the work that satisfy their need is an art in itself.

In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?
I want to keep creating beautiful designs. I’m happy to be able to bring the work from my imagination onto the paper and finally to finish the construction. Seeing people live in the beautiful space that I create especially for them bring me joy. I want to keep doing that.

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to interior design schemes, what would it be?
A piece of advice is to make interior design an important part of one’s life. For me interior design is not just a job, it is my passion. I dedicate my self to learning and improving by constantly searching for new inspirations, new material, new concepts, and etc. I spend 85% of my time consuming design and creative works to broadened my design horizon.

How important are The International Hotel & Property Awards as recognition of talent and achievement?
Very important. The award is an opportunity for designers to keep designing great works and to share their works for the world to see.

What projects are you currently working on?
Ultra Luxury Residences
Condominium facilities for top real estate developers

What was your favourite project to work on and why?
There is no favorite. I love all of my project.

What was your most challenging project to work on and why?
When I decided to quit my job and started my firm, the first job was to design a small mock-up room for a condominium project. The client was very satisfied with my design and asked me to design bigger rooms and finally the whole lobby and facility areas. During the first years, I did all the work by myself including administrative works such as accounting. Then soon after that, I started to recruit my team to expand the company and to work on bigger projects. Now our portfolio has grown, and our client includes many top real estate developers in the country.

Looking back to my very first project, I did my best even if it was a very small project. This project has opened doors for me to work on much bigger projects. It was a challenge for me to keep doing my best and to build reputation and trust from our clients.

Which products/services could you not live without when designing?
For me the most important part of design services is to do the best for my client. My senior once said to me that if a job is assigned to you, even if it is just a small meaningless job, you should do the best you can because it the job that is done by you. I believe that all the work that we have done is a part of our portfolio. We do our best regardless of the size of the project.

What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?
As a company, we intend to receive a limited number of projects each year. Our aim is to create what we called “Hand crafted interior designs”. We take time to carefully crafts very detail to ensure that our works are not only satisfying but also unique and inspirational.

Final thoughts; tell us a little more about yourself and your daily inspirations:
We are not a big company but some of our works valued more than 100 million baht. We are very lucky to receive such opportunities to work with our wonderful clients. We are also very lucky to have great teamwork with the same objectives to create the work that people are happy to live in. There are the things that inspired me to go to work everyday.

Your most treasured possession? The ability to see 3D space in my head.

Your favourite hotel, restaurant & bar? I like places that are surrounded by nature.
Your favourite book, film & song? I change my favorite very now and then depending on my feeling at the moment

Your favourite way to spend an afternoon? Dancing and imagining my interior design project
If you weren’t a designer, what would you be? I’ve never though of that because interior design is my dream and my passion.
