Designist have been shortlisted for Bar/Club/Lounge – Global Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2023.

The hotel invites Berlin’s eclectic and rich cityscape into the design. Mixing mid-century and contemporary pieces, the goal was for a bold yet inviting space.

As a progressive design studio, Designist turned a deaf ear to the standard ideas of hotel design. Instead, they aimed to show how every functional piece can still be artistic. Designist have brought different geometries together and blended them with vibrant colours in harmony.

Titanic Hotel Comfort Kurfürstendam’s budget had to be cleverly spent for the public areas, 150 rooms and a wintergarden which was to be newly built. The brief was to change the entire atmosphere and create a warm, welcoming, progressive feeling. Designist have carefully blended bold materials and textures with vivid colours, which is further enhanced by integrated moody lighting to give the hotel a homey atmosphere.

Reforming the stereotypical design of Hotels, Designist were able to instead design and build furniture, such as the reception desk, to appear like contemporary art pieces. Working with experienced carpenters such as Addo Furniture, all of the built-in furniture from concept to production was created exclusively for this project.

The new wintergarden is the heart of the project, which connects the lobby and the restaurant. The client requested that it was built between two wings of the existing building with a steel structure. The first design was a glass-roofed space, although the fire safety regulations restricted these plans. This then became an opportunity to turn the space into a biophilic atmosphere with various hanging plants from the ceiling. The orange botanical wall with the huge circular window sits opposite the emerald green ceramic tiled bar wall which complement each other well. The half wooden wall with tan leather and diner styled cedar offers a vintage and sincere feeling.
