Tell us a little about your background in design (education, experience, etc)
I have always been attracted to make a difference around me. It started when I was a kid in our own house, I use to change the furniture every month based on the season, and I was having my best time of my life doing this. When I started my career as a designer, I was still having the same fun, plus the pay that was coming with it! I am specialised in designing not only houses, but also restaurants, offices and hotel rooms. Anything that comes with the interior design is also something I do – I design uniforms, furniture, menus, gardens, ambiance with music playlists, etc.

How would you describe your personal interior design style?
I am always trying to put my signature in all the projects that I do, yet, I am very strict in respecting the rules and the regulations that are in place for each project. Working in hotels is like a religion, there are very strict rules to respect and obey; the main objective is to have the functionality rule, then comes the design, also the safety measures have to be at the top, otherwise there are many risks that can be faced.

Where does your design inspiration come from?
I dream with my eyes open. When I see a project, I already see it finished, it makes me day dream… inspiration sometimes comes from the most unexpected places. The inspiration idea remains in my head sometimes for years, then when the time or when the right project comes, I make use of it.

I fill my life and surround myself with beautiful things, I spend my time fixing details and perfecting my knowledge in new inventions and materials. I love nature, it’s the ultimate inspiration for me.

Name the key themes to consider when approaching design in 2022 and beyond.
The main concern nowadays is the planet, we have to make all what is in our power to Reduce, Re-use, and Recycle. These are my 3 R’s that I try to stick to. Then comes Innovation and Creativity.

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to interior design schemes, what would it be?
Keep it comfortable! 

What projects are you currently working on?
I am restructuring a 60 years old hotel property.

What was your favourite project to work on and why?
A restaurant in Beirut. It was inside a green house, and it was super innovative for its time.

What was your most challenging project to work on and why?
Every project is challenging, but the most challenging one was in a restaurant that had to be totally destroyed and rebuilt, because the foundation and the structure was not secure. The safety measures are the main concern when restructuring a property. 

Which products/services could you not live without when designing?
My computer and my phone… and the builders and the team of people that execute what I create.

What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?
Have my next project ready on time, and I’m hoping to get everyone back on track after the hard year that we have all faced. And also win the Award!

Your favourite food and drink? Lebanese and Asian food. Drink: Mai Tai
Your favourite way to spend an afternoon? Having a chill at the pool with a Mai Tai  
If you weren’t a designer, what would you be? A sad person!
