HKS Architects have been shortlisted for Hotel Design – Middle East Africas Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2023.

The new Fairmont Taghazout Bay resort, designed by the esteemed HKS Architects, presents an exquisite retreat consisting of 146 generously appointed guestrooms and suites that boast captivating sea-facing views. Additionally, the resort encompasses 52 Fairmont-branded luxury waterfront villas, further elevating the allure of this remarkable destination.

Nestled within the enchanting Agadir region, Taghazout Bay stands as one of Morocco’s most captivating areas. Here, rugged mountains meet endless beaches, where the pristine azure sea stretches towards the horizon, its shimmering waters and crashing waves creating an idyllic paradise for surfers. The timeless charm of this region, seemingly untouched by the passage of time, serves as the inspiration for the Fairmont Taghazout Bay, a development that seamlessly blends modern comforts with an understated sense of luxury.

To achieve a harmonious fusion of architecture and landscape, meticulous research into local architectural styles serves as a foundation for the resort’s design. The orientation, proportions, and traditional details draw inspiration from the rich heritage of the region. However, the architects aim to create a new architectural language that reflects contemporary sensibilities rather than a mere replication of classic themes.

The resort comprises two components: a hotel with approximately 140 to 150 rooms, and a collection of 50 branded residences. The location of the villas ensures privacy and breathtaking sea views, while maintaining a cohesive architectural language and harmonious integration with the hotel component. Public areas within the hotel capitalize on the exceptional quality of light found in Taghazout Bay, while seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor spaces to create an immersive guest experience.
