Auric Road / Korakia Pensione have been Shortlisted for Hotel Suite – The Americas Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2022.

Korakia Pensione is a petite resort housed in two historic villas that rests on 1.5 lush acres, consisting of bungalows, guesthouses, gardens and pools. The property is timeless as well as transportive, with rich textures with a combination of rustic and elevated touches. It’s true to the location and the history of its original design. Everything chosen for the space has one rule and it is that architecture and history take center stage and everything else just complements, creating a peaceful aesthetic that flows throughout the property.

Paul Makarechian, owner of Auric Road, hand selected many of the items at Korakia Pensione on his travels throughout the world. With antiques and handmade furniture, everything blends harmoniously to create an oasis in the California desert. With citrus blossoms, olive trees, oleander bushes, date palms, bougainvillea vines, gorgeous Moroccan fountains and a stone waterfall spread across the main courtyard area, every aspect of the villas have been restored to the artistic ambiance of their halcyon days. A key design aspect is that one of the amenities is enjoyment of the luxury of this property which is defined by the unique pieces, architecture, history, and landscaping.

The design works so well because it is so unique, it truly feels like you’ve teleported somewhere tranquil and beautiful. The design of the Orchard House takes full advantage of being located in the Southern California Desert where you can enjoy indoor/ outdoor living 8 months out of the year. With French doors that surround the bedroom, guests can sleep inside/outside next to a beautiful outdoor stone fireplace and stone spa waterfall. The elements used to build were selected to mimic the mountain stone that the house sits in front of.

A skilled mason was used for creating the stonework that this very special place boasts, and a welder put in the giant wall size pivoting steel frame window that connects the living room of the house to the private orchard.
