LUXURY FRONTIERS
Luxury Frontiers have been Shortlisted for Hotel Under 50 Rooms – Global Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2021.
Canyon Equity, the owner of the iconic Amangiri, charged Luxury Frontiers with designing North America’s first all-weather, year-round tented camp, at a level of luxury unprecedented in the West. The result: 10 beautifully appointed one- or two-bedroom tented pavilions—bespoke architectural statements which offer discerning guests the ultimate luxury Amangiri is known for and adventurous back-to-nature experiences in Utah’s desert landscape.
Luxury Frontiers’ architectural and interior design is a contextual tribute. It captivates the senses with thoughtfully positioned tents which bow toward monumental sandstone formations, while welcoming guests inside with the soft intimacy of a natural canvas tent. Clean lines, natural colour schemes and canvas work, distinguished by stitching and fixing details, cultivate a refined camp feel. While the camp offers curated vistas of rocky outcrops and flat-topped mesas, each element of the tented pavilion is to host an experience for the senses. Indoors, each tent boasts a living area, dining area, wet and dry bar, and a soaking bathtub with desert views. The tented roof extends the indoors to outdoor living areas, marked by a private oversized terrace, fire pit, and heated plunge pool.
Given the site conditions of sun, snow, and extreme temperatures, no detail was too small in designing the tented pavilions to thrive on both an aesthetic and performance level. At Camp Sarika, canvas in a custom desert-inspired colour was used to form a tented membrane, allowing for fluid design and for each tented unit to visually blend in with the undulating surface of the desert. The units are carefully positioned, enfolding the architecture into the otherworldly landscape and affording each unit curated vistas of rocky outcrops and flat-topped mesas.
The tent membranes are designed of durable, lightweight, recyclable and long-lasting PVC, which not only serves a tent-aesthetic purpose, but also requires low upkeep and heightens the quality of the indoor environment. The membrane’s extended canvas overhang allows for the indoor shelter of each tented pavilion to flow out to expansive outdoor spaces, seamlessly integrating the indoors and outdoors.
