Mantu Interior Architects Design have been shortlisted for Hotel Under 200 Rooms – Global Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2021.

As a typical canal town and seaport city in the south of the Yangtze River, Ningbo sits in the estuary at the southern end of the Grand Canal. It is the eastern port of departure of the Maritime Silk Road. Therefore, the hotel integrates the local characteristic culture and, with the theme of “setting sail from the port to the world”, ideally melts the modern fashion with the traditional culture for artistic expression. The hotel furnishes a lobby, restaurant, banquet hall, guest rooms and other basic functional spaces.

The lobby space, based on the design concept of Ningbo’s colourful port culture, looks high, open and imposing in some parts, interspersed with mass texture materials in the container fashion. The container concept bookshelf towers aloft in the lobby, like an art ladder, dividing the space while furnishing visitors a dreamy visual expansion. The ship-form bar of the lobby matches the carpet of the wave concept, as if stirring up rhythmic waves when sailing into the sea. Interesting artistic devices are introduced in the space letting people filled with infinite reverie to the journey of ocean exploration. The all-day restaurant brings in the harbour concept clue. The annular island serves as the centre of the spatial vision, creating a warm harbour for rest, allowing visitors to experience the unique warm, charming, tranquil harbour culture.

The banquet hall takes the legend of butterfly lovers as the story clue. The butterfly lovers’ concept is introduced in the ceiling artistic chandelier form and carpet pattern, creating a romantic and beautiful atmosphere. The guest rooms are spacious and inclusive, adopting a high-grade grey tone, calm and elegant. The mini-bar designed with the concept of ancient hamper, looks simple and fashionable. The bedside background, embellished with art gradient pattern glass, creates a delicate and stylish space atmosphere of distinctive cultural story, so that guests returning from business travel may relieve fatigue, and enjoy new inspiration for life and career.

The hotel furnishes guest rooms, dining, meeting, fitness and other service facilities to provide an elegant and comfortable place for young urban business people who pursue a balance between work and life.
