Tell us a little about your background in design:

With 20 years of experience in the fields of architecture (master degree) and interior design, Danish-born and raised Fong-Chan Zeuthen has built up solid recognition for her work, and a reputation of keeping consistency in a rather fluctuated market of Vietnam. 2009 offered just the right opportunity, and with a great passion and substantial time of incubation, KAZE INTERIOR DESIGN STUDIO was born.

How would you describe your personal interior design style?

Scandinavian with a touch of Asia.

Where does your design inspiration come from?

A deep understanding of my heritage, a respect of the culture I am living in and the urge for creating and making design stories, wherever I go. 

In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?

I see two directions. One a very safe and commercial direction with only small changes to the establishment. Two, a need to make a difference in which we are now living and navigating as tec- normades, global citizens and people with a non-traditional lifestyle…

Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in 2023 and beyond.

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to interior design schemes, what would it be?

Be mindful with your lighting scheme.

How important are The International Hotel & Property Awards as recognition of talent and achievement?

Much important to receive recognition for both the Designer and Developer. A successful collaboration shows in the output of the finished design!

What projects are you currently working on?

Other Hotel projects, 3 of them.

What was your favourite project to work on and why?

The Project The Yacht – by DC has been an absolutely favourite for KAZE. The essential between developer and designer is the trust – and that is what we got with The Yacht by DC.

What was your most challenging project to work on and why?

All projects are challenging. There are always issues arising. That is to be expected. But is the team we are working with, and their style of managing the project, that makes the difference professionally. 

Which products/services could you not live without when designing?

We couldn’t produce our ideas without our tools, our program and computer. 

What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?

To study how A.I works for my business. Be upfront with the future.

Your most treasured possession?

A small set of Travel candlelight holders in brass.

Your favourite holiday destination?

My own summerhouse in Denmark a Cottage house from 1829 completely renovated.

Your favourite hotel, restaurant & bar?

Sailing Club Mui Ne – Vietnam and MAD VINE -Bar in Thao Dien Saigon/ D2.

Your favourite book, film & song?

21 things you should know about the 21st Century by Yuval Noah Harari.

Your favourite food and drink?

Vietnamese food and Cha Da (icetea with green tea).

Your favourite way to spend an afternoon?

With my Twin-boys.

If you weren’t a designer, what would you be?

Event planner.
